Help. What Am I Doing Wrong?

Recommended Posts

I had my first fill on 1/12/12. I don't really feel restriction but that's fine for now as long as I feel that i have control over my eating. Since that time I have stuck to a 1000 calorie diet of CLEAN eating. No cheating. 70 Proteins 20 grams of fat per day (no saturated) . 13 grams of sugar. I measure everything exactly and track every single meal. I have been going to the gym daily doing 1 hr of zumba as well.

I am gaining!!! No just plateauing. Gaining. I just don't understand. It feels demotivating.

Ccan someone help?

Sometimes when you begin a workout program, especially an intense one, you can hold Water which helps your muscles to heal. Just be patient and you may very well see a big drop soon. Good Luck!

I had my first fill on the 12th also. I had to lower my calories to 800 to lose any.The scale hasnt moved much but I can tell that I have lost inches. I am told that my body is losing the fat and gaining the muscle from the excersize, muscle weighs more than fat and thats why no decrease in scale. I walk 3 miles every day with hills and 5 miles on sat and sun. I know how it affects your motivation, so Im right there with ya! maybe try to drop the calories down to 900 and see if that helps. I know if I eat 1000 I cant lose. Good luck!

It doesnt sound like u are doing anything wrong, but it might be u are slow in your metabolism kicking into gear, might be worth trying to add some of the metabolic foods like green tea, chilli, broccoli etc into your diet and see if that helps. It might also be that u need a few more or less calories a day, i know it sounds strange but sometimes a small increase or decrease can help, dont drastically change anything just tweek things and see if it makes a difference. I have chilli everyday as i dont have a fast metabolic rate, my partner can go to sleep and drop 3lbs just by sleeping, i am lucky if i drop 1lb we are all different but dont let it beat u, take the challenge and reseach things, eat at different times, drink more Water etc, etc, you havent been banded long so it may just be your body rebelling over the food restrictions. Might be time for a fill too. When did you start to eat solid foods, its common for people to gain in this time too.

Just keep doing what you are doing. This is a lifestyle change and it will take time. Stay off the scale for a while. These first few months are terrible...stay the course!

This might be it. I had the same thing happen and then I upped my calories. I strut to get at least 1200 calories. 1200 calories is the basal level for most females, meaning it it the amount of calories need to maintain basic operations in the body. Anything below this sends the body into starvation mode, where it will hold on to any calories taken in turning it into fat. It ie an evolutionionary adaptions designed to jealous our anscestors survive when food was difficult to find. Also at this point your body may start to turn muscle mass into amino acids and fat meaning you will lose it. I am not your Dr though, I would ask her first. Also you can trick your body by working out even if you are under the 1200 calories.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
