Not Losing On Scale But Clothing Much Bigger....can I Be Losing?

Recommended Posts

Had my band done on Oct 17 and have lost a total of 25 pounds but haven't lost in a while. I have been swimming for 45 minutes 3-4 times (started at 20 minutes) per day for the last 3 weeks and have so much more energy. My clothing has been getting bigger by the day but the scale is staying the same weight and I'm frustrated. Has anyone else experienced the same thing? Going in for my second fill tomorrow have little to no restrictions...When does the scale catch up with the loose clothing? I know I way myself too much but it's a way to keep me in check...

I had surgery on 10/28/11. I've only lost 10 lbs since then, I also feel the clothing difference is much more. I think this is fine, I can see the difference and the weight will catch up. wonder if it is because we are eating all foods again?

I bet you are toning up your body a whole lot with swimming, good for you! keep up the good work.

as long as you know you are eating correctly, I wouldn't worry too much.

If you're working out, then most definitely you can be losing inches and not weight. I think I've lost more size than the scale says weight wise. I had two people at work say I look thinner even though the scale hasn't moved in three weeks. Also weight wise I feel I haven't lost enough to be down another size but my large scrubs are falling off me (waiting for my mediums to come in). I still have 45 lbs to get to a normal bmi but no one believes me because I'm much smaller size wise. I've lost 67 lb and gone from a 24 jeans to a 12. I workout 6 days a week so I know that my body is changing and doing weights once a week is helping inches even though the scale isn't moving.

Same here! I've been pushing myself at the gym a little harder as of late. I was surprised to see the scale move up a few pounds. I tested my body fat and measured my waist size and they both dropped very nicely. You can increase your muscle, which will increase your weight slightly. This type of weight gain is healthy and awesome ;-)

It can take almost 2 months for the scale to "catch up" to inches lost. don't get hung up on the scale, I know it is hard to do that. judge by your clothing sizes I am 6 months out, lost 45 lbs, but am now in a xl shirt, 16 jeans. you will get there.

Ditto !

That's exactly rite !

You lose weight, then stop, and lose inches. This goes back, and fourth,

Once your body catches up, you will start to lose weight again.

AMEN!!! to what the others said. me and the scale are arch enemies. i've only lost about 22 pounds since May, but clothing went from a 20 to 16. so inches are definelty coming off faster than the scale. plus i train with a trainer and we lift weight as well as cardio so i know i'm gaining some muscle mass to, dont wanna be flabby! LOL

Also, remember, muscle weighs more than fat. Unfortunately, lol. I'm pretty much the same right now. I have 9 pounds left to goal and it is taking forever but my clothes are getting bigger and bigger. I also, still, measure myself every couple of weeks and I'm still dropping inches. I run 3-5 miles a day and I'm in great shape, I would just like this 9 pounds to melt off my body like the first 115 did!

So, keep exercising because you are toning your body and changing the way your fat burns. Try not to get frustrated, I know we all tend to concentrate on that number that is displayed on our scales but there are so many other factors too.

I also had a stuck scale but I could see I was getting thinner. I reviewed my exercise and food logs and noticed I was eating more carbs that I realized. On 12/4/11 I made my carb limit 50 grams a day, trying to stay below 40 grams a day, and I have lost weight everyday this week. I must control the carbs else they will control me smile.png .

Actually muscle does not weigh more than fat. A pound equals a pound. It is just that more muscle will take up the same amount of space that fat will take up. Muscle is small in size, so if you lose one pound of fat and it gets taken up by one pound of muscle it will look smaller, but it will weigh the same.

First congratulations to everyone who is exercising and losing inches, it takes so much will power for me! I am not exercising like I should be, but I am also seeing my clothes fitting different even though the scale has not moved much in the last week. My pants are getting baggy, but I have not lost anymore weight.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
