My sweet spot if we have the same band is 1.9cc I went a whole year with it in and not a fill or unfill, very little food, mostly Water and Soup but got down to 135lbs. When you hit its great and when you don't it sucks.

Maggie,

I definitely feel restriction. I tried to eat a piece of baked chicken last night and no way was that goin down! So tonight I tried to put some "I can't believe its not butter spray" on it and take tiny baby bites and PAIN PAIN....! nope, dogs got that piece, (minus the bone) too.

I settled for a Protein Shake after that. I also made some weight watchers chocolate peanutbutter Cookies with oatmeal and had 2 (they are very small) and only a point a piece and I am full. So happy, "Aunt Flo" is due and usually I could eat the whole fridge but not now, no desire.

Very happy with my last fill!

Schel:)

Hey all,

went back to the doc yesterday, he put in another 3 cc's. I couldn't get the Water down, it was sitting in my throat. Took out 1 cc and now I'm at 7 cc's. I think I definatly have restriction now but just when I think I could eat a horse, I eat a little and I am full. Still feel like Water sits in my throat sometimes. Am I too full or just right?

*laughs* Hey Kim (Kennedy) I got a fill this last Tuesday and I'm feeling the same way. In my head I think Im starving and can eat a horse. Then I go to eat and I can't eat much at all. It's been messing with my head all day.

I haven't had any problems with Water though. That sounds pretty tight. Doesn't your doc put you on liquids for a couple of days after a fill?

You know what's been really odd? Hearing that I'm no longer on the strict diet. It's like someone said - Go! Have whatever you want!

But I can't eat much because on the day of freedom, I got a fill! LOL!

Yay for the band!!

i went 9 months with no restrictions. i thought i was a freak. then under floroscopy, she filled me to 4.4cc. at last, success. i'm still somewhat of a freak as i need an aggressive fill. but i do know what it feels like to be restricted finally. it's been 3 weeks and i've lost 6 lbs. i only lost 12 lbs in the previous 9 months.

The question confuses me. It seems like 2 questions are being asked: How quickly do your fills kick in, and how many fills did it take for you to really start feeling restriction.

For me, it took about 3 fills to start feeling restriction because they filled me VERY slowly, but once I get the fills, it takes about 1-2 weeks before they start kicking in.

How would you go about getting a more aggressive fill?

For those of you have already been banded and had the first fill :After your first fill-- if you did not get the proper restriction that you wanted -- did you tell your doctor about how hungry and unsatisfied you were, or did you let the doctor fill at his/her own pace?

Do you think this makes a difference in getting more aggressive fills?

I will have my first fill 3/24 and I can't wait, I lost 20 lbs so far (banded 2/3/06) and now I feel like I'm eating too much. I know I should count calories everyday, but sometimes I think, "Didn't I pay $9000. to avoid diets".

Inamed's website says that the first fill in a 10cm VG band should be a minimum of 4cc. I hear a lot of people saying they got less and have gone back a lot of times before they ever felt restriction. If I had a VG band, I think I'd be demaning 4cc to start and then I would want to go slowly - if more was needed.

I know it's hard to fight the hungries when you know you can eat more than you should, but I'd rather battle that and progress a bit slower than to insist on getting a "more aggressive" fill (meaning, you insist the Dr gives you more this time because last time didn't do the trick). My reasoning? Well, after reading many posts about people who suffered for days, not even able to drink Water.. and a mere .5cc unfill cured it, I've decided to go about this with caution. I currently have 1cc out of a possible 4cc and if I need more, I'm going to be saying.. go easy Doc!

The nurse who did my 2nd fill asked how I was eating... I said oh fine! I had a taco salad for lunch yesterday with the whole shell. She responded by asking if I needed to take pills for any reason. I said no and boy did she fill it up. Doubled - from 1cc to 2cc's.

I'm with P'nut that I'd probably go easy... although my fills are free for a year, so I guess that makes a difference. My fill was done under flouroscopy... so they can see when the barium is draining through... doesn't seem like so much guesswork is involved, but I am having a little trouble with the fill so far... (only day 2 so I'll see how it goes).

I had my fifth fill last month and felt restriction for the 1st time but it only lasted for a couple of days, then nothing. 3 weeks after the fill all of a sudden I couldn't eat normally (i.e. alot!). The food wouldn't fit! So I've cancelled my fill appt for next week, I think I'll stay here (2.5/4.0) for a couple more weeks.

I was wondering if any one hs paid for a fluro fill in the US preferably in Arizona but if not that is ok and how much did it cost.. Also if you have had both kinds of fills and thought that it made a difference or not.. was the fluro better or the same as a blind fill...

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
