Broth.....ick ?

Recommended Posts

So just like I sampled different Protein Shakes so that when the time came and I needed them I wouldnt be gagging, I decided to sample some broth for my first few days post op (and that one day right before op). Gaaaaaag!! I have tried 3 different kinds and they are so gross. I tried 2 different kinds of chickrn and 1 brand beef. Dont laugh but one of the chicken (it was one from a box) smelled like urine. I could not get over it. Can someone tell me a good brand? Or am I worried about nothing bc I wont really need it? I really want to make sure i get enough Protein.

J

Throw some chicken, carrots, onions, celery, parsley, garlic, basil, oregano, salt and pepper in the crock pot. Let it cook over night. In the morning, strain it and throw away the chunks. Put in the freezer in small containers to use when your ready. I used ice cube trays!

I tried chicken broth and it was disgusting. To me it smelled like canned dog food ( sorry if I ruined broth for anyone). All I had every day was 1 or 2 Protein Shakes sugar free popsicles and sugar free Jello, and diet pop. The 2 first days were the hardest and then after that it was a lot easier.

The healthiest thing is for you to start taking ownership for everything you put in your mouth by creating those foods yourself. As Cindy wrote, make your own and you will have just the flavors you want, plus less preservatives and sodium I imagine...

I really just liked the Pacific Organic broths, and I could find them at Whole Foods, Target and some local grocery stores: http://www.pacificfo...ur-foods/broths

I really likes the mushroom broth and the French Onion soup: http://www.pacificfo...ll-natural-soup It doesn't have cheese or croutons in it, so it really is more broth like - good for full liquids stage.

Do you like Campbell's chicken noodle soup! Some one told me to drain the chicken and noodles and just eat the broth from that. Cause I do like that soup>

I thought the vegetable broth was not bad at all--just basic store brand canned. I did add a baby carrot while cooking it--I don't know if that did the trick, but I liked the taste.

I had to have slimfast. I froze it and would have 2 teaspoons and be full, by day 3 I could eat a whole one! I then just drank slimfast or canned Soup, ice pops n Water. By day 7 I ate 2 cubes of chocolate bliss, but didn't want any more! If you feel you can eat lumps earlier just make sure you chew chew chew!

Won Ton soup(without the wontons of course) got me through. It's very flavorful and filling. I had someone pick it up for me from my favorite chinese restaurant. It was my saving grace.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
