The carbonation stretches your pouch...if u keep drinking it over time it will stretch it. My husband had bariatric surgery, lost weight, started drinking soda again, and all the sudden could it more bc pouch was stretched. I recommend to leave it alone. Drink crystal light or freeze the soda to make a slushy so it isnt carbonated.

I gave up my diet coke a couple months before I was banded, honestly it was easier than I thought it would be. I do drink it on occasion, but they do not really taste as good as they used to anymore. There is a woman in my office who is banded that I see drinking diet coke a lot. She is still losing.

Has anybody started back drinking their diet drinks after lap band surgery? I am so craving one!!!

I was a coke aholic but I knew if I was going to have WLS I would not be able to go back to drinking those. Do I still crave one? Yes, but I don't want anthing to interfere with my band and losing weight so I think of something else

I drink diet big red, one or two a day, diet coke which I used to be addicted to...tastes awful to me. My doctor said that carbonation is ok if you learn what you can handle. it is the pressure from under the band that can be painful.

No sodas anymore for me. I've been drinking Powerade. No calories, mild flavors, some good stuff in it. 32 oz or $.69 on sale. Really helps me get in my fluids. Crystal lite is just too sweet tasting for me now.

I drink Crystal Light Pure--I wasn't able to drink many brands of sugar-free soda because I'm allergic to nutrasweet, but pre-banding, I LOVED Dr. Pepper and Limeades from Sonic. I don't miss them at all now. The other day at a party, I tasted literally a drop of Dr. Pepper from my husband's glass and wasn't all that interested in it. And when I go to Sonic now, I order an unsweet iced tea with lemon and sweet-n-low.

anything carbonated is just way too painful for me...makes me feel like someone is sitting on my chest. If I am really craving it, I will just have a tiny sip of my husbands. Any more and I am extremely uncomfortable for at least a few hours.

These are some of the things I drink now: crystal light, Liption Diet Green Tea, Powerade Zero, Sobe Life Water, Fuze Slenderize, Rockstar Recovery (when I need a huge caffeine fix), coffee with splenda and non-fat soy milk, and WATER...lots and lots of water!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
