Zumba Classes

Recommended Posts

My daughter wants me to go to a Zumba class tonight but I am unsure if I can keep up. I am 223 at 5'6 and I can do 2 miles on the treadmill at 35 minutes. Is it all dance? I thought if I couldn't keep up with the youngins (I am 48) maybe I can side out early?

How was your first Zumba experience?

Ive done Zumba a few times .. I'm a horrible dancer so i always feel a little awkward but the important thing is to keep your body moving, right?! Just go at your pace and you;ll be fine. We do it at the YMCA and they are always ladies who are in their 60s moving to their own beat and having fun!

I am payIng money so I do my best and have fun. Were all in there for a reason to get healthy :P Try it its fun it takes a while to get coordinated and feel comfortble but give it a try

I am wanting to try Zumba as well and feel a bit nervous about going into a class and shaking my ample bootie. I am about as coordinated as an aardvark and to top it all off there's a mirror at the front of the class so I can catch glimpses of just how fat and uncoordinated I am. However, I'm dedicated to my lapband mission and getting this weight off and I'm sure I've made a fool of myself for far less noble things.

I LOVE ZUMBA! I am 5'3" and 200lbs (now) but started Zumba over 50lbs ago. I go twice a week and would go more if my gym offered more classes. The instructor always encourages people to go at thier own pace, so just get in there and MOVE!

Good luck, everyone!

Zumba is fun. Don't worry about others> Seems like everyone likes to Zumba. The Y has great Z classes. I love it. I am latin so the moves come easy but I go there for fun not to show off my moves. Have fun with...

I must be one of the minority who doesnt like zumba, lol. Its too "dancy" for me, I'm much more into the all out athletic stuff. I absolutely cant dance and dont want to try. I'd rather run on the treadmill grooving to my own music. BUT - what I do notice at the gym is that there's always all sizes and shapes in the classes and nobody bats an eye. Even the really glammo ones in all the latest gym wear who prance around are way way more interested in looking at themselves in the mirrors than watching what you're doing. Its always really nervewracking going to a class when you think you wont know what routine to follow, what equipment to use etc and will draw attention to yourself but you've only got to get through that first time and after that its a breeze. Have a go!

I went and I loved it!! I smiled the entire time-it was intense!! The next day I felt it! I did feel like I had 2 left feet, but my class had ALL ages and ALL sizes! I wasn'tthe heaviest obe in class (maybe the 2nd). It was a freshing change from the treadmill and machines.

Zumba is a butt kicker but makes you SWEAT! The first time I went I was 225 and it was hard but I was out there doing it :) A little slower than the skinnier people but I was sweating and every time gets easier. Go for it! You won't know till you try.

I tried Zumbia bought the newest tapes. I have tried it 4 times and now I have declare that I am defeated. I can not get the moves down at all, so about ten minutes in I am just doing my own thing until the music stops. I do not know how you are all doing it. But I say if you can do it congratulations and I bet you drop a lot of weight doing it.

I on the other hand have started jogging. I might look funny doing that too but I am doing it. I really surprised myself I could do that as before I always had to walk only.

More power to you who do Zumbia!!! You have my respect!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
