    I'm jumping through insurance hoops right now..my insurance (BCBS Anthem of GA) requires a 6 month weight loss stuff so in Oct. it will be the end and we submit an go from there!

    You should do all the research you can and base your decision on whats BEST for you. Only you know you! This forum is a great resource. You should consult with a surgeon and ask as many questions as you have. Ultimately, you should make this decision for you. Dont think about letting your family down, consider yourself above all. In the end, to be most beneficial ro your family you have to take care of you! Best wishes to you and I hope your decision comes easier.

    thats a thought of mine too..i have yet to be sleeved but im wondering how others are going to act once i cross onto the losers bench..as of right now on my facebook i dont have a picture of my as my profile pic..what i do have is a sign that says *under construction check back soon* haha..my motto is *if you weren't there at my worst you don't deserve me at my best*

    i know i've read the good the bad the ugly right here on this forum and thats why i love it b/c you dont just get *the surgery is awesome i've had nothing happen* you get it from all aspects of the journey

    for me i was wanting the LapBand but after talking with the doctor it wasn't the right fit for me..(BMI being over 50..he said that losing 100lbs with the band, i would still be obese/overweight so he didnt reccommend that) so that left me with the sleeve and the bypass and i didnt want anything bypassed so thats how i came to want the sleeve..

    I have yet to be sleeved but im on my way there and have come up with a list of things that i want to do once the weight starts coming off.. feel free to add your own!
    1. every ride at an amusement park
    2. cross my legs
    3. look down and see feet instead of belly
    4. horseback riding
    5. shop in the regular section in the store
    6. ride in a plane without the belt expander
    thats my list for right now im sure i will think of more haha

    hello all! my name is shelli and yesterday i had my first of many appointments for this journey..my insurance (anthem bcbs of GA) requires a 6month weightloss requirement so im hoping by april/may i will be having surgery..im excited and nervous..i have been overweight my whole life..right now im 35 322lbs with a bmi of 54 and that scares me. in the beginning of this process i had wanted the band but after going to the seminars i decided that wasnt for me and i didnt like the idea of an RNY ..i am definately ready to reclaim my life
