Liquids w/foood??

Recommended Posts

So, it was my understanding that you should not drink after you eat something for at least 1/2 hour. I was told so that the food will stay above the band and let you feel fuller longer. I had my second fill on 7/22 and am now at 5cc total. I definitly have restriction bc I have had a few instances of vomiting. First, I get this horrible chest pain, ike the food is stuck. this has been happening more than I would like now and so I decided to drink a little in hopes of pushing the food through. The liquids actually made it worse! Once I had a few sips, I had to vomit. Has anyone had similar issues?? I would appreciate any stories and advice!!!!! Thanks!! :D

I read a book about the lapband and it calls it the Corkage Effect. The food is just sitting in there and then u add liquid and there's no where 4 the liquid 2 go. This happens to me everytime I thinki I'm going to get one past my band! Its really hard when u eat somet ing spicy and can't drink anything.

I've had my band for 20 mths now and I can honestly say I'm pretty used to drinking before I eat. I'm getiing a fill next week afterf a yr. I'm hoping to get on losing wagon again.I only have about 20 lbs to go. Good luck to u

You have learned a good lesson. Don't drink if you are stuck. It makes a bad situation much worse. The best thing to do is to walk, stretch, and give it time. At least that is what helps me.

After that I smarten up and eat slower and take smaller bites. Good Luck!! :)

I learned that lesson the hard way too and never did it again! Especially cold liquids, they will definitely make matters much worse. If you're just a little bit stuck, some warm tea can help move things along. But if you're really stuck, just like above walk around and stretch your arms over your head to try and loosen things up. My doctor did tell me that if you're eating food that is very dry (especially meats) having a little Water with them is ok to help them go down, just don't overdo it.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
