85 lbs in 1 year??

Is it realistic to set a goal of 85 lbs lost in 1 year? I'm currently around 285 and would like to enter onederland in a year.

For those of you that have been at this a while, what was your weight loss after a year? Thanks!

I am wondering the same thing! I am two months post op and have lost 30+ lbs. ( I know weight comes off quicker right after surgery), but I am

loving how the pounds are coming off regardless. I have been so much happier of a person. Good luck to the both of us :)

i like big goals...i was banded 1/27/2011 down 109lbs from 314lbs 5 months with NO FILLS, goo big!!.......work hard and FOLLOW doc guide lines!!! good luck....!.

97 lbs as of today....almost 7 months post op.

It is so nice to open a thread and see everyone posting success! Great job everyone :)

For me ........ I lost 100 pounds in 1 year. I had 2 fills at that point, no exercise, no counting, tracking, measuring.....

I just folowed some very basic guidelines.

You can do it !

I bet you'll far exceed your goal. You sound like the successful banding type, for some reason. Best of luck!

I think the #1 basic guideline for me is to get to my green zone and stay there.

Some of my other basics:

-Know my full signals and stop eating

-Stay busy when head hunger sets in (sewing, crafts, cleaning house...)

- Stay away from fast food

- Stick with fat free or sugar free the best I can

-Take my vits.

-Try to drink fluids between meals. I like iced tea and coffee, and sometimes water. I do not measure and am sure it's not 64oz a day.

-I drink a yogurt smoothie with protein powder every weekend (used to more often)

-Try to eat a variety each day. Sometimes this is not easy because I do still never eat bread, pasta, rice, dense meats, eggs, fried foods.......

-Weigh several times a week to make sure my weight does not creep up too much and then modify as needed.

-I ate quite a bit of chili in my weightloss phase to get in protein. Not large amounts, just small amounts often.

-I do not think of this "diet" or lap-band as a punishment

It's very possible. I'll be 7 months on August 31 and have lost 90 pounds as of today.
