Any July 2011 Bandsters?

Recommended Posts

Congrats to all the new Bandits! :)

I am on day 2 of pre-op liquids and I gotta be honest, I have been wondering just what the heck I have gotten myself into. lol ... I would KILL for something to chew. :D Or something savory... anything for heaven's sake. lol... UGH I am doing my very best to NOT complain to my family as this torture is self inflicted but the hunger pains mixed with the headaches... are turning me into a not very wonderful version of myself. How in the world is my family going to survive the next month of liquids? AAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!! :D

Congratulations Denise, Did you go all the way home or back to the hotel? Glad to hear you are feeling well except for soreness.

I made it. I am home. Surgery was at 11:30 and just got home. Not bad. No nausea just really sore at incisions. Hope everyone else is doing good.

I'm doing the Premier brand Protein Shakes avail at costco and sams club. 11 oz, 160 cal, 1 g sugar, 30g Protein, 400 mg Calcium. Tastes pretty good, have to keep away from kids.

MustangMama...I hear you! I am trying so hard not to complain to the friends and family around me (I was banded on July 12th). However, I know I have gotten significantly better since Tuesday. I am forcing myself to walk a lot and to drink fluids as much as possible. I am finding it really hard to watch tv...I never realized how much food and eating is incorporated into tv shows!

Someone on here recommended a recliner chair and it has been my saving grace. I have been sleeping it in at night and it is amazing. I have been using lots of ice packs...I have four in the freezer. My doctor told me to not use a heating pad but rather stick to the ice packs. I picked up a box of herbal teas and have enjoyed trying the different flavors...even though I can only try a few sips.

I am still happy that I chose to do this. I feel like right now I am going through withdrawal like a heroin addict...cept for me its food. I need to do this...I want a life again!

Thinking positive thoughts for those of you getting banded soon!

Hello. Its day 6 of my liquid diet. Last night was the worst so far. I was pretty cranky and wanted to order a pizza so bad. I have not cheated but the urge is growing. My surgery date is quickly approaching (july 21) and it could not come quicker. The growling sotmach, the smell of other peoples delicious food, all of it is making me crazy! Crackers would be divine. How is everyone else doing with their liquids?

and good luck Shauna!

Well hello everyone. I had my surgery on July 13th and all went wonderfully well. I am home now and the pain is very tolerable. I haven't had any gas problems yet. I feel great mentally. I think is the best thing I could have done for myself. I even lost 2 pounds so far and that's surprising with all the fluids they pump you with during surgery. So I'm just a happy camper right now. Would love to meet and talk with some of you other July bandsters as we begin this new chapter in our lives.

Hi Everyone I was banded yesterday. I could not believe how seriously easy it was. My doctor demands over night stay. He got us all up in the morning for the barrium swallow and send us on our way after checking our incisions. I was one of three women in the room being banded. Which was nice, I did get a bit of shoulder pain but it has already past, thank god

now I have to overlook the diet for phase three,

and see what I am going to have for the day, I spent all day yesterday and today while in the hospital eating small amounts of ice chips so so I am really looking forward to something.

good luck to all out there newly banded and up and coming banded.

I made it! The first 24 hrs were hard, I had awful gas pain and pain in my port incision getting out of bed. But I walked the halls all day and night praying for burps, and am home now and feeling lots better. I'll probably post in the post-op area from here on out, hope all of the rest of this week's bandits do great!

Hi Tammy! I'm here and banded!

Surgery went well, they fixed my hernia at the same time. My gas pain is manifesting itself as a lot of tightness in my chest which is making it hard to breathe. Incisions hurt quite a bit getting up and down but not too bad otherwise. Pretty much a textbook recovery so far.

Hope everyone else getting banded today is doing well and check in soon!

Shauna

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
