I noticed that most people's weight ticker on here say they need to lose 100 or so pounds. Even though I do meet the BMI to have this done, I only have to lose about 60 pounds. Are there people, that anyone knows of, that get the band when they only have 60 pounds to lose? Please let me know.

Thanks~Lisa

THERE ARE ALOT OF INSURANCES THAT WONT PAY FOR IT UNLESS YOU ARE 30 OR 40 BMI AND UP. I HAVE MILITARY INSURANCE SO I HAD TO HAVE I THINK IT WAS A 40 BMI.

Only 60 pounds!!! Do you have any comorbidities like diabetes, high blood pressure? I too only need to lose about 65lbs. I say only very loosely! I am scheduled for lap band August 10, 2011.

@girly....no comorbidies other than my serious back issues which require surgery hence, my reasoning for getting the lap band hoping the weight loss would alleviate the back and me having to get back surgery....

Only 60 pounds!!! Do you have any comorbidities like diabetes, high blood pressure? I too only need to lose about 65lbs. I say only very loosely! I am scheduled for lap band August 10, 2011.

No comorbidities, except high cholesterol. My bmi, I think, came to 37.

My surgery is in 6 days and I am getting nervous. I totally trust the dr. and the procedure; but I am looking at myself thinking, "The thinnest part of me is my stomach/waist, and it gets really small when I have lost weight in the past--am I going to ruin the 1 body part on me that I like (with the scars and the port, if it sticks out)?!?"

Friends and family have been telling me, "You're not obese! You don't need this! Just diet and exercise!" (I have, believe me, many, many times.)

I've been getting cold feet the last few days, asking myself, "Should I be doing this? I can probably lose the weight myself." Even if I can get up motivation to do it for the millionth time of my life( I've been trying to get motivated for several months now, and can't do it), I know I will just gain it back, like I have done sooo many countless times before.

Seriously, I gain and lose 20, 30 pounds every 6 months. In 2007, I lost 50+ pounds. But, everytime I gain it back. It's very unhealthy to yo-yo diet like that. And I've done it my whole life.

Any comments or suggestions are appreciated. Thanks..

I will say that my back is always hurting from the extra weight, and I have horrible gastric reflux with the extra weight. Also, I have slight sleep apnea, which gets better with weight loss. But no diabetes or high blood pressure, etc.

I needed to loose about 65lbs also. I just got banded 3 weeks ago. Getting cold feet is normal... But think of it this way, you are doing this surgery to better your health and to prevent any other health issues associated with being over weight. That's how I looked at it. I don't have diabetes but I am at risk as both my father has it and my mom is pre diabetic. I also had gall stones and needed to get my gallbladder removed. The lifestyle we live and the foods we eat can cause some serious issues in the future. I feel that by getting this surgery I have chosen to put an end to that. Even though it is still possible to eat unhealthy foods, I now have this tool that will allow me to feel full and not over eat anymore which motivates me to eat healthier.I also struggled in the past with up and down weight loss but it would always come back. Hope this helped.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
