Is anyone like me?
@girly....no comorbidies other than my serious back issues which require surgery hence, my reasoning for getting the lap band hoping the weight loss would alleviate the back and me having to get back surgery....

Question about Restriction and Getting Stuck after fills or before?- 18 days post op!
Hi everyone: I am 18 days post op and just have a few questions. I am a faithful lapbandtalk member and have used this site as a huge support system during and after my surgery process. My question is, I am 18 days post op and now that my swelling is going down, I, like most you fellow bandsters am experiencing no restriction whatsoever....I am hungry every 2-3 hours, i can swallow pills with no problem....I have been taking Biotin Multivitamin capsules in case of hair loss and am easily able to swallow them as well as eat just about anything without having any problems...so my question is, are your "stuck" stories during post op prior to your fills or after you get your fill? I am also curious to know that during this post op no restriction phase, since I am not experiencing problems with any foods going down, can I try salad or pretty much anything else prior to my first fill on April 15? Thanks!

Banded on 3/1/11 A FEW QUESTIONS...
Hi everyone! I was banded on 3/1/11 and am currently 13 days post op and have just begun introducing eggs into my diet. I cheated a little bit with a soft crabcake and some butternut squash yesterday (and feeling terrible) after being so sick of strained soup! I have a few questions hoping some of you bandsters out here could help me. So here goes: food questions: - at what point is it ok to attempt to introduce salads into my diet ? (i have been craving this walnut goat cheese salad from unos pizzeria for about 3 weeks now and want one soooo bad!!!) -at what point can i begin attempting to take in vegetables and seeing which ones agree/dont agree with my band? -at what point can i possibly try some bread? - at what point can I begin taking Aleve/Advil again when I get a headache? I am already off the blood thinners but forgot to question my doctor about this. lap band post op questions: I have been nervous about eating anything other than liquids and the only discomfort or rather "weirdness" i have felt so far has been actually feeling the liquids or food go down into my stomach, not sure if i am explaining this correctly but it is exactly what I feel and although I do not feel much restriction with eating (I can only assume from reading on here that's because I haven't had a fill yet), I am still trying to be careful about what I eat and how much. We go out to eat alot in my family and I am trying to portion control my food and stop way before I would even consider being full even though I feel like I can pretty much eat the amount I could prior to the surgery My question is, how do you know your full other than your own brain telling you...is it a pain you feel in your chest? stomach becomes queasy? etc... Although I was only banded 13 days ago and am still mostly on liquids and eggs, I was wondering if I could probably attempt to introduce some soft meat such as chicken to see how I react to it? I have been waiting 15-20 minutes after I eat to drink anything..is this enough time or should I be waiting longer? any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

OMG SURGERY SCHEDULED FOR TOMORROW - NEED SOME ENCOURAGEMENT..GETTING COLD FEET
Hi everyone I am getting cold feet for my surgery which is scheduled for tomorrow. I feel like I am one big failure. My doctor put me on the all liquid for 2 weeks prior to surgery diet and I couldn't even stick to it fully (I incorporated 1 high Protein no carb meal into my daily plan). I am so mad at myself. I have come this far and even stopped smoking to have this surgery (was a smoker for 20 years) and now I am feeling like 1 big failure because of eating habits. Im scared that my inability to stick to this all liquid plan is going to cause my Doctor to tell me my liver is too fatty and to do an open lapband surgery instead of the laprascopic. I don't know what to do but I am so scared right now that i am ready to call the office and cancel. PLEASE HELP!!!!

Pre-Op Diet Serious Help Needed
- Pre-Op Diet Serious Help Needed
hey everyone! Thanks for all of your posts and encouragement..I must say i was extremely down when I posted this and have since not only found a shake that I loooooove (muscle milk is AWESOME) but have also got past the 3 day miserable feeling!!!! I am finding it a little easier since I am still incorporating one high Protein meal into this plan with plans on full liquids beginning 5 days before surgery but I am happier now that I found one shake that I really like!!!! thanks for everything!- I Stopped Smoking for My LB Surgery
I also quit smoking due to the lap band surgery and I'm scheduled to be banded on March 1. I quit approximately one month ago using CHANTIX...this is a wonder drug!!!! I was a 1 pack a day smoker for 20 years with only a few hours ever going by without a cigarette mostly when I was on an airplane....but after about the 3rd week of chantix...i am proud to say I am completely done and feel great because of it!!!!- Pre-Op Diet Serious Help Needed
Hi All.. My surgery is scheduled for March 1 and my Dr prescribed the 2 week liquid diet as 4-6 Protein shakes a day, sugar free jello/pudding, broth, and all sugar free drinks...for the shakes portion he suggested slimfast. So here I am, I decided to start the diet this past monday instead of tuesday just to give me a head start, by Monday afternoon I felt like death. The slimfast shakes are not only disgusting but are not filling at all. I started reading the posts on here when it came to other peoples' pre-op diets and became so frustrated with mine that I called my drs office and told them I have to have some type of nourishment (i.e. food) even if its egg whites and vegetables for one of the meals. Of course, my nutritionist recommended against it but said that I was on the right track in terms of what I was planning on replacing it with IF i decided to go that route. After reading all the posts on here, I am a little overwhelmed with some of the protein products that have been suggested as I am completely clueless on how to go about even picking something to make my attempt to sticking to this easier....I know I know that after surgery we are all going WEEKS with this type of diet plan and if I can't get through it now how am I going to get through it afterward? well let me say this, for the surgery, I have quit smoking after being a smoker for the last 20 years without so much as going more than a few hours without a cigarette, quit drinking socially and now quit completely eating 2 weeks prior to never being able to ever eat the same again? I am having a hard time and could really use some help/guidance here..... thanks in advance..- Pre-Op Diet Serious Help Needed

heather - - I am SOOO feeling your pain right now.. My doctor prescribes only slimfast, Water, sugar free drinks like crystal light, broth, Jello, fat free yogurt and popsicles...I am only on day 2 and I am dying. I have the worst headache in the world and my body is dying of hunger. I have read alot of these posts on here and am feeling not only extremely discouraged but confused as to why some of these people on here and their doctors have prescribed high Protein low carbs, veggies, etc. If I had this option i could live with this! but i dont. I'm a little scared but I said screw this and ate a egg white omelette with some spinach this morning. After googling shrinking liver diets I keep coming across the same thing, high protein low carbs..am i missing something? Or is this diet just prescribed to us so we can get used to what its going to be like after?- Pre-Op Day One of Slimfast - I NEED YOUR HELP!
