Bending over with a port

Recommended Posts

Has anybody else had any issues with their port getting disturbed when you bend over? I am only 2 weeks post op, so this might be a recovery issue. I have a heck of a time when I need to bend down to pick up my toddler or something off the floor. My port is in my upper abdomen. It is at just the right position that it get pushed up by my jean's waistband when I bend. Ouch! It hurts. The pain is less than it was a few days ago. Also, I am learning new ways to bend off to the left so I don't disturb my port on the right. I wonder if this "port catch" pain will go away as I heal? As my stomach gets flat? Ever?

I was told not to bend over or lift heavy objects for 4-6 weeks. I did have a hernia repair which could be why so long, but try to take it easy on bending over. I've learned to squat a little to pick up things and someone else in the house picks things up off the floor if I need to. My dog has gotten used to jumping into my lap so I can hold him since I can't put the leash on him by bending over anymore. Take your time as much as possible to heal the best you can.

My port used to move a bit if my pants were tight near it and i bent over.

It stopped being painful and it didn't bother me much if I moved and it moved.

I however had it moved a few months ago, but I could have lived with it the way it was.

My Dr said I couldn't lift anything over 20lbs for 4weeks after surgery. It took my port area about 4wks to not give me any discomfort.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
