What's with all the burping?

Recommended Posts

I had surgery on Thursday and have been recovering fairly quickly except for the constant hunger pains. I have upped my Protein and am getting 80 grams of protein each day and at least 50-60oz fluids. The one thing that seems not to be going away is the burping. It is EPIC! Not productive - no vomit burbs, or vurps. Could this still be the gas from surgery? Or is this something I am going to have to deal with forever as foods slide into my stomach from my pouch, displacing hunger gases or something? It happens all the time, whether I've just ingested something or not, and seems to actually happen more if I am upright. Thoughts, anyone?

I have had some epic belches. It happens like if I bend over or lean over. It feels so good! Nothing comes up with it, but I feel less bloated after. The first time I did it my husband just stared at me in awe. I am three weeks post op.

Right after my surgery I had a lot of gas , and my doctor explained to me that it was because in order to make some room during the surgery they blow you up with air.

So now... the air is coming out.

It is not a pretty image ... but it helps you understand.

I still burp 2 months out, but it's not that extreme, usually after I eat. I could totally win a burping contest now hahaha.

and yea the blow up your tummy during laparoscopic surgery hence the air.

Oh God I wish I could burp like that. My gas stays trapped up and causes alot of discomfort and pain. I take bean-o but it doesn't seem to work. So for those of you who can burp...you're lucky!!!

OMG the first month after surgery I was amazed at how long and loud I could burp (came up from the toes). That has all subsided now, thankfully. Now that I'm pretty restricted, I just have the non-stop gurgling! I appreciate a noisy restaurant these days :)

I burp when I "eat." Seems like it happens as the pouch empties.

I'm only a week out though.

I wouldn't count on the gas going away! I'm definitely a tooter. Boy after my fill, I don't know why, but I was like a balloon that somebody just let the air out of. I was flying all over the house. I apologized to the family, but they, too, just stared in disbelief. What the heck . . . they want a skinny Mom, don't they? They can't have their gas and pass it too!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
