Surgery Tomorrow! EEK!!!

Recommended Posts

I am having my banding done tomorrow and to be honest, I am kind of freaking out! I have eaten my Breakfast and thats all I get today unless I need a few Protein shakes. Tomorrow at 830am I will be sliced open!!! OMG! The main part that I am so nervous about it throwing up.... I hate throwing up and i dont want to be in pain all day.

The other hard part, is I am only 23 and an accountant so I am worried that sitting 9 hours a day and staring at a computer is going to hurt my sucess.... also that fact that i LOVE to cook is going to suck!

some encourangement wouldn't hurt :-(

You'll do great! I was banded on Oct 19th and you can barely even see my incisions now. As far as the pain...the worst part of if the gas. I don't think anything that anybody says to try to explain it will prepare you for it. Just remember to walk, walk, walk. It really does help the gas pain and pressure tremendously. I too sit at a computer all day (shipping coordinator) and I have done great with my weight loss. I'm down 60 lbs. Just think...tomorrow starts a brand new chapter in your life! Post when you can to let us know how you are doing. I'm excited for you!:D

This is easier than you think. I was banded on Dec 22, 2010 & just overthought the entire process.

I was worried about gas pains, nausea, blah, blah, blah & guess what??????

I did NOT have any nausea or gas pains whatsoever....

My surgeon explained to me that it depends not only on the patient, but on the surgeon...... Some surgeons do the procedure with their patient's lying FLAT, some do it with their patient's ELEVATED, & as for myself while I was lying on the operating table before I was knocked out there was this towel like pillow thing underneath my lower back & top of my buddox so that I was sort of arched a little bit. This is the technique that my surgeon uses on all of his patient's.

The only pain that I did have was on day two around the incision site (which I took pain meds for) but other than that I feel great..

My post-op was on 12/28/10 & I had my staples removed.... It's healing good....

Just keep in mind that you have to do everything that your surgeon/nurses & hospital staff tells you to do & you will be ok...

I will be praying for you & the best of luck to you.....

hey dont worry ure gonna be fine..I was banded on 12/22 and Im feeling much better now. Like they said before the gas is prob the worst part but take ure gas-x and walk and u will be ok. As for sitting all day, dont worry. Once ure healed etc u can start exercising etc... lastly, I too like u like to cook and in fact Ive been cooking more now after surgery, even things I cant eat. I think its a theraputic thing but u can still cook after, just learn new band friendly recipes :)

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
