Those of you with a 10 cc band....

Recommended Posts

Everyone is so different. I know people that have had no fills two years out and have perfect restriction and those who have had TONS of fills. I really started feeling restriction at 5.8 ccs and just had another fill last week to 6.1 and I really feel it now. My doctor actually told me that I would have been fine with what I had since I am so close to goal weight, but I am one of those who prefers to be tighter. The thing I also forget sometimes is that in banded life full is different than the 'old' full and if you are taking longer than 20 minutes to eat your meal, your brain has lost the 'full' signal and is starting over so it will still go down. I am over a year out and these are things I still need to remind myself of LOL.

I have 6.5 cc's in a 10 ml band...didn't think I had that much (because my fill amounts don't add up to that) so I must have had a decent amount put in during surgery. She pulled it all out @ my 3rd fill and I had 6 cc's. I got another .5 at my last fill. I'm feeling very good restriction, but feel that I could use a small tweak as it has loosened a bit. I go back on Dec 20 and I think I'm going to get .1 or .2 and then I really think that will be it for me for a while! I've lost pretty well since the last fill, even with the holiday eating and drinking!

I have 7ml in a 10 ml band. Some restriction but not a lot. Go in next week for another fill. I believe this one will take me to my sweet spot.:P

I had pretty good restriction at 7.5 CCs. Eventually I got one more fill for a total of 8.5. I think this may be it for me.

I think one of the keys is to get used to the changes as you go: eating smaller amounts, taking smaller bites, chewing thoroughly and waiting between bites. It would be a drastic and very difficult change if I'd had to adjust to full restriction all at once. But since it's been 7 months since surgery, I've been able to adjust slowly over time.

I'm having slow but steady progress and am able to adjust to the changes as I go. I get impatient at times, but I guess that's human nature. For me, it's working great.

i love this tread because i thought i was the only one that has a hard time tolerating fills!

the most i had was 5.6cc's but had to be unfilled to my current 4.4cc's.

It really amazes me how different everyone is, especially with regard to fills. I am only 6 1/2 weeks post op, have already had 2 fills and am currently at 7 ccs in a 11 cc band. I was very restricted for 24 hours after the last fill, but now I don't feel all that restricted, which I was thinking was odd, but it sounds like others have had the same experience. I take my time eating and chew things very well so I am wondering if that is why the food is going down smoothly. I can go a nice long time without getting hungry, but when I do eat I always feel like I could put in more. I think I would like to feel restricted a little sooner but don't go back to the doctor until after the new year.

As everyone else had said it's a case by case deal.

In my case I have had 2 fills and have 7ccs in my 10cc band. I am doing awesome and have been losing weight constantly. I should be in onderland soon!!!

I currently have 6.9 cc in my band and feel like I need a small tweak at my appointment next month. I am in the green zone and losing and not getting hungry, but I would like my portions to be a little smaller.

I'm at 8 cc and was very tight right after my fill on11/17. I could only drink liquids. I then could eat about 1/4c for a few weeks, and now I can eat probably 1/2 cup. My next appointment is next Thursday. The doc might want to put more in, but I can't imagine being able to tolerate more than .25 more right now, but then when I lose more weight and the band loosens up... maybe then. But as you can see in my signature my doc is pretty aggressive with the fills which I appreciate.

I had my first fill 8 days ago and my surgeon put in 6 cc's in my 10 cc band. I do not feel restriction in that I can eat as big of bites as I want and am not chewing great and everything seems to go down fine. I do feel restriction in that I am only eating a cup of food and feel completely full and do not feel hungry again for four or more hours. I continue to lose weight steadily. 37 pounds in seven weeks. I am scheduled for another fill in January but don't think I am going to take one because I am feeling satisfied right now.

I have 7.5 and did not feel even slightly restricted until 7 and 7.5. It's been 3 weeks since my last fill and I feel loose again! I think I might need just a tweak.

I have about 3.75 cc and I'm almost too tight. I just got another fill last Monday (6 days ago) so I'm hoping it'll loosen a bit and I'll have just enough restriction.

I have NO FILLS in a 10 cc band and feel full. I must have a very sensitive stomach, some days get real hungry and others cannot get much down. It is the sliders that are the killers in this journey. The holidays are getting to me and I need to increase my walking to compensate for the couple of Cookies I have tasted after being so good for the last 2 years. Everybody is so different, you need to listen to your body and your Dr to decide what you want and where you are comfortable.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
