Need encouragement

Recommended Posts

I had my surgery in June of 2009. I have only lost 55 lbs and I am very depressed behind it so I began eating whatever. Within this timeframe I was not able to get a fill for 5 months due to uncontrollable blood pressure, and this has me wanting to give up. I look at others who have had the surgery after me but have lost more weight and this makes me very upset. I guess I need to go back to the basic and see what happens. I use to be so motivated, now I don't exercise or anything. I also can't seem to keep my hair. Can anyone help me?

Why are you worrying about the weight loss of others? This is about you. I don't base my happiness on what Tom or Jane lost or didn't lose. You need to look inside of you and figure out what you want to do. You may also want to go to a support group or schedule an appointment with a therapist. Sometimes vocalizing the issue helps.

We all need encouraging, and I am one myself. The hair lose comes from not enough Protein. I had my surgery on August 16 2008 and I fell like a failure also. The only thing that we can do is get back on track and win this race. I see people that got the surgery the same time I did and felt like, that could of been me.... But guess what its, not... I stopped putting time limits on when to loose and just try to do my best. Because if you put a time limit on it, your going to set yourself up for failure. Just do the best you can and remember, that they are not walking around in your shoes. ;)

I don't know if you accept prayers...but I will definately include you in a prayer today. I just got my lapband in November of this year, just a few weeks ago and have just begun this journey. But each day i have to fight feeling like a failure and it's something we all struggle with at times. Please be good to yourself. Maybe write yourself a letter. This sounds kinda cooky, but it actually works. Tell yourself what you want to happen. Be kind to yourself. I've found we're often alot harsher on ourselves than we would be on others who were doing the same thing. I think you are right and making a good decision to start over on the basics. I lost my mind a few days ago and had some pizza. Years of habits and the comfort food offers is are very difficult obstacles. Hope the best for you. Let me know how you are doing. : )

Had my surgery 12/7 and the night after I prayed all night I could keep up my end by eating right. I really want to loose weight. I also told everyone and they have been so supportive I want to be a success for them too. But I know I have a problem with food as my reason to live and now I need to think of other things to live for. One is God. I need to be the person I was created to be. Other things I like are card games, music and I hope soon to pick up dance lessons.

All I used to do is go out and eat. My friends suggested we meet at a bookstore or Starbucks instead of cafe's.

So the surgery is over and the work is now begun!

Let's keep on keeping on!

Please do not get discourage - in life we want to rush things based on what our need is for ourselves. I think you should self reflect to find out where you have been going with this journey. I believe self-reflection will help you to understand your flaws that are hindering you from losing weight. remember this is a journey with many challenges and obstacles - this is a lifetime committment to change. I agree with a previous comment - that you should see a therapist. Revisit your doctor and nutritionist. wishing you much success in the future.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
