My second fill and feel no difference

Recommended Posts

I went for my second fill on Tuesday and I haven't noticed a thing. On top of that I'm on prednisone and antibiotics for a sinus infection so it's hard for me to feel full at all. Could it just be the meds I'm on? I sure hope so because this makes me nervous.....only good thing my sinus infection already feels better and I have alot of energy. Any input would be appreciated....

Welcome to my world! I think it's part of banster hell...before you reach restriction. I have 4cc's in a 10cc band and was able to eat a whole grilled chicken salad from Arthur Treachers today (just balsamic vinegar, no oil)...and I probably could have kept eating.

I'm sorry I don't have any words of wisdom, but you're not alone. Hang in there!! I hear it takes 3-4 fills before reaching decent restriction.

I have heard A LOT that with prednisone it's hard to feel full, ever. Hang in there until after you're done with your meds and then re-evaluate your level of restriction.

Thanks for your replies....I told myself just focus on getting well and off the meds and see then what happens. This banster hell is just that isn't it. Best of luck to both of you and I hope everything starts working soon:smile2:

I didn't feel any restriction until my 3rd fill, and good restriction on my 4th. You may be just like me - it might take a few fills to get you going. I didn't lose any weight (oh, maybe 10 or so) the first 5mths, but I've lost another 42 lbs in the 2nd 5 mths, when I finally got good restriction.

You'll get there. I thought I'd be the only patient this didn't work on and I'd never know what restriction even felt like. You will - just hang in there. Yeah, we're jealous of those who have immediate restriction or those who lost 100 lbs in a yr while I lost 52 lbs in almost the same time. But everyones body is different and you can't change that - you might as well roll with it!

Best to you!

Marci

Thanks so much Marci....you give me hope. I have been really frustrated with this and not losing but I too heard after the third fill things get much better...can't wait. My DH has lost about 65 lbs and me about 20 or so but his surgery was in the end of March and mine was the 17th of June. I'll be so glad when things start moving again and these meds arent helping but I just have a couple more days of them, thank goodness. Best of luck on your journey....but it seems you are well on your way....congradulations. rpm2010:thumbup:

I didn't feel much difference until my third and fourth fills---and even those didn't have "staying power."

Prednisone can wreak havoc with appetite, as well. (It also can cause Fluid retention--so don't freak out if the scale doesn't cooperate; stay low-sodium, bump up Protein a little (helps with the appetite and the Fluid retention), and try to avoid simple carbs (which, along with the pred, can cause blood sugar spikes, followed by huge hunger).

Thank you Betsy....maybe that's why my sweet tooth just was driving me crazy. I don't think I will weigh for awhile...usually don't anyway because it just frustates me. I have increased my water(crystal light) and Fiber and that seems to help. Only two more days of these prednisone pill...thank goodness. Funny how we are all so different. My DH tastes buds have changed and he is totally into health....completely opposite from what he was before. Thanks again....rpm2010

I was banded on June 14th and have only had one fill, which I now have 4cc's in a 10cc band. I too can finish an entire grilled chicken salad. The only difference I felt after my last fill was that I really need to be careful about chewing food well, but as far as restriction goes, I haven't noticed a difference. I too have only lost about 20 pounds since surgery. It will be nice when the band actually makes a difference with the weight and amount of food that I am able to eat. Looking forward to restriction!

It sounds like I could have written the previous quote, except for the fact that I would love to have lost 20 lbs,,I lost 2, yes 2. and I am so sad

By best friend and I both had the surgery in May. She has only had one fill, feels restriction, and has lost over 30 pounds. She has 2 ccs in a 10 cc band.

I had my surgery a couple of weeks before she did. I have had 3 fills and still don't really feel restriction. I have 7.5 ccs in a 10 cc band. I do have to eat slower and chew more, but I feel I can eat just as much as I used to. If I make myself stop eating half way through the meal, though, it is enough to keep me satisfied until my next meal and I have been losing weight. I think I may ask for another .5 ccs at my next appointment. Hang it there, it will happen for you.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
