Sleeping on my port side

Recommended Posts

So how long did y'all wait until you felt comfortable enough to sleep on your port side? Mine is underneath my left boob and I'm getting kinda tired of sleeping only on my back or right side-but am scared of sleeping on the port side just yet. It will of been a week tomorrow since I've been banded if that helps.

It is not going to do any harm sleeping on your left side. However, I was tender on that left side for approx. a week. Also you may discover the port's incision site is a little more uncomfortable than your other incisions

At 2 days post-op I started turning onto my stomach and left (port side) while sleeping. By day 4 I was doing it intentionally as I'm most comfortable on my stomach or left side. Now 7 weeks post-op, it's a non-issue for me.

I was as close to on it as I could be from day 1. I CAN'T sleep on my back. I received a stuffed animal (Moose) from the hospital prior to leaving after my surgery, out patient, to help with the coughing and strain of moving, so I grabbed my buddy, held him to my belly and rolled. I was more on the animal than I was on the bed, but it relieved the need to sleep on my stomach, and the pressure relieved some of the incision discomfort.

I have to sleep on my stomach, so about 2-3 nights after surgery i was putting a pillow on my port side and laying on that, i wasnt totally on my stomach yet, but it gave my body the illuision it needed to sleep! I didnt need it anymore about night 5.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
