Your not doing anything wrong. It takes time. In the 2 weeks following surgery I was committed to get below 280lbs. I tried and tried to no avail. Well i just hit 279.5 this morning 2 months after my surgery. This past week it seems like all of a sudden the weight has started to come off at a noticeable rate. Hang in there it will come:thumbup:

Your first few weeks are all about healing, many even gain weight at this point, so staying put is a good thing!

I feel the same way. I had my lap band 5/28 and since Tuesday I have not lost an ounce. I ve been on a restricted diet of 3 protien shakes, 2-2oz of protien, 1 starch, 1diary per day. Next week I need to add more an I am afraid if I do I ll gain weight? I feel very discourage, I expected to see results with these diet restrictions.

I know how you feel. I was banded May 3 and I'm at a standstill. I haven't dropped any weight other than my initial 15 pounds. My body wants to hang on to every pound that it can. It's being very stubborn. I have stayed under 1300 calories every day. In fact.. I'm ready for bed and I've had only 750 calories today. I get plenty of Protein (80 grams today). I think I'm making good, nutritious choices but that darn scale is refusing to budge. Actually I had lost 17 pounds.. but gained two back and just can't budge that darn scale. I even had my first fill two weeks ago (26th @1cc) and I'm still the same weight. It is frustrating... but we have to hang in there.

I was banded the 17th. I lost 8 pounds in 3 weeks. I started normal food yesterday and I made sure I ate all my Protein. Today was my 2nd day of real food and I have been tracking my food. I eat 1500 calories and at least 70g of protein. I have lost 4 pounds in two days!! I think that my body was holding on to everything cuz it was holding on to all the fat, as I was only eating about 800 cals a day. I really think once i boosted it up and added the protein that it helped!

Hang in there. I was banded 4/22 and for 6 weeks lost nothing...actually gained a few pounds but since my first fill on 6/2/10 of 4cc's I have been going down a pound a day and am loving it. You are in what is called bandster hell and it sure is a bad place to be but hang in there for the long haul.....it does start to work.

During this time period you aren't expected to lose. I started with an empty band and was hungry almost right away. It was ever thing I could do to just maintain. So, I measured, counted calories and watched every thing I put into my mouth. And I did maintained. Even lost a few pounds. The important thing is your attitude. Keep your chin up and hang in there. It will happen! Best wishes!!!

I was banded 5-3-10 and to date have only lost 19lbs and I go to the gym everyday and am there like 40 minutes a day. I am hoping inches at least are coming off!!!! Hang in there. This little bit of weight is better than nothing.

You will lose the weight, but you have to wait it out. I had surgery on 3/24/10 and I lost a lot of weight right before and right after I was banded. Then I plateaued big time about two weeks post-op. I was losing and gaining the same 3 pounds for over a month. It was soooo hard and I started to regret my decision of getting the band. I was having great success just watching my calories and exercising before I was banded. I only just realized that my body took about 2 months to heal from the surgery and adjust to life with the band. I no longer have random pains when exercise and I am feeling younger and healthier than I have in years. The scale is finally starting to move again and I couldn't be happier. Bandster Hell is incredibly hard, but just stick it out and get lots of exercise, Water and Protein and the weight will start coming off again. Your body just needs some time to heal.

I am not worrying about it. I am 2.5 weeks post op and after a big loss 1st week, have been wavering for 1.5 weeks at 8 lbs down, then 9 lbs down, then 8, then 7, then 9 etc.

I am just following instructions and seeing what happens. I did kick it up a notch today and I headed to the gym I just joined to get me off my home exercise equipment and try some new stuff. I am tired! My first fill is July 1st. I am just concentrating on how much I have achieved until this point and that this is the longest sustained time in 15 years that I have had sustained weight loss that is not coming back, and where I have not epically fallen off the wagon and suffered a major setback in my weight, resolve, or hope for my future.

:tongue2:

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.

Some days I feel like an infiltrator... I'm participating in society as a "thin" person. They have no idea that I haven't always been one of them! 🤣

Thank you everyone for your well wishes! I totally forgot I wrote an update here... I'm one week post op today. I gained 15 lbs in water weight overnight because they had to give me tons of fluids to bring my BP up after surgery! I stayed one night in the hospital. Everything has been fine except I seem to have picked up a bug while I was there and I've been running a low grade fever, coughing, and a sore throat. So I've been hydrating well and sleeping a ton. So far the Covid tests are negative.
I haven't been able to advance my diet past purees. Everything I eat other than tofu makes me choke and feels like trying to swallow rocks. They warned me it would get worse before it gets better, so lets hope this is all normal. I have my follow up on Monday so we'll see. Living on shakes and soup again is not fun. I had enough of them the first time!! LOL
