I just have to say this...I hate that growling sound from my big stomach.

Okay, I just had to get that off my mind. Now to find something to drink.

Have a great Monday!

Nice to meet you finding me!! Hang in there!! I am so sorry for all the stress in your life take it day by day. I am sure you are thankful for the band during this stressful time I know for myself I would have probably eaten whatever I could get my hands on when stress hits.

I too love to scrapbook have you scrapbook your band journey with before pics etc? I was just banded yesterday and HATE to have my picture taken but I did let some friends take some before pics.

Good Luck!!

I have not started to scrap my journey. And honestly am not sure I will. Most of my pages are of my kids and vacations. Maybe some day but I am not sure I am ready to do it yet.

How is everyone doing with this summer heat?

As usual, I've been busy going all the time and things are about to get worse with football season starting. I will need to come back on here more often during that time. This is a time that I need to seek out support. I thought about joining Weight Watchers just to have the weekly meetings to go to.

I'm also scheduled for my first fill on 08/12. I'm looking forward to it as a new adventure in this new life that i signed up for.

I'll try to get on more often. I wish you all the best.

I am tired of this heat!!!! I am ready to get my first fill 8/25. I have not stepped on the scale in a week or so but the weight loss from right after surgery has definately slowed down and maybe even stopped. I can tell that the amount I eat has dramatically reduced but I still get hungry between meals hopefully after fills that will stop.

I have been to the gym one time for a real workout since surgery and it went pretty well it will be easier to go to the gym more frequently once the kids are back in school.

I am proud to say that I have not had a Diet coke since July 12th and I was SO addicted to it and drank way more than I should have so that alone is a victory for me on the road to a healthy lifestyle.

I just wanted to check in these boards have been pretty quiet lately must be the heat!!

tiger - congrats on ceasing the coke addiction. I am proud of NO diet pop since Feb. 8th. Don't even miss it. No carbonated beverages at all.

KS - sxy - keep up the workouts and your weight loss will continue. All part of our new life style.

Hi. I'm in Kansas City. I'm still considering everything. I might chose Dr. Hoehn at Shawnee Mission Medical Center. Has anyone used him? If you have any opinions, I'd welcome them -- on here or by private message.

I'm 41, mother of a 2.5 year old daughter, 39 BMI and ready to slim down!!!

Have heard wonderful things about him. He performed my SIL's bypass surgery and I've spoken to others who worked with him on lap band. They have a marvelous support group. Good choice.

Thanks LadyKC.

How long post-op b/f you can eat more than mushy foods? I don't want to share my WLS with anyone but my closest friend. But, if I have my surgery in October, I'll be coming up on Thanksgiving. Also, I travel quite often for work and I don't want to be in a weird business lunch/dinner situation if I can schedule by trip well past my surgery. Let me know what ya'll think...

Toto - discuss your schedule concerns with Dr. Hoehn. I worked with Dr. Malley and 2 weeks pre-surgery with shakes & one ww meal per day were required.

Then post op - one week of shakes, followed by mushy foods for another week.

I also prefer privacy relative to this decision. It has been amazing to me how little ppl notice what I do/do not eat when eating out. I respond (if they comment, which is seldom) just not too hungry today, ate a late lunch, etc.

Just returned from my first vacation (since banding) and was concerned about food choices. It was NOT a problem.

Thanks LadyKC. You're doing awesome! 31 lbs lost. It must be a great feeling knowing those 31 lbs are gone forever! Seems I would lose 20 lbs, go on vacation/business trip and here came the same 20 lbs!

I'll speak with them about it my schedule.

Just curious...can you eat salad? I know each person is different, but I was just curious if I would still be able to eat salad. Even though I have a weight problem, I really do like salads!

hi iam abbi thomas

Gastric band placement, unlike malabsorptive weight loss surgery (e.g. Roux-en-Y gastric bypass surgery (RNY), biliopancreatic diversion (BPD) and Duodenal Switch (DS)), does not cut or remove any part of the digestive system. If indicated, it is usually easy to remove the band and reverse the surgery, requiring only a laparoscopic procedure, after which the stomach usually returns to its normal pre-banded state. Unlike those who have procedures such as RNY, DS, or BPD, it is unusual for gastric band patients to experience any nutritional deficiencies or malabsorption of micro-nutrients: Calcium supplements and Vitamin B12 injections are not generally required following gastric banding (as they are with RNY, for example). Gastric dumping syndrome issues also do not occur since no component parts of the intestines are removed or re-routed. The techniques of stomach stapling and sleeve gastrectomy (where approximately half of the stomach is either "sidelined" or removed) are making a comeback in some centres after having falling out of use during the last decade due to a high complication rate; their impact on food passage is comparable to gastric banding. Current proponents of this surgical approach claim weight loss and complication outcomes similar to gastric banding. Gastric banding is practically always performed as a laparoscopic technique (resulting in shorter hospital stay), whereas this is less often the case for RNY, BPD and DS._________

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
