Hi everyone! My name is Mary, and I am very new! I have struggled with my weight my intire life! I started taking perscription diet pills when I was in the 6th grade in order to make the weight limit to be a high school majorette. When I entered into the 9th grade I weight 130 lbs. By the time I graduated I weighed back up to 163 lbs. After highschool I got up to 225 lbs. I started taking diet pills agian and lost back down to 165 lbs. I am now 27 years old and weigh 310 lbs. Wow! My BMI is 50. My weight has never bothered me in the past, but over the past year I have really realized the limits it has put on my life! I would love to go to a concert or the movies with my husband and not have to worry if I will fit in the seat. That would be great! I would love to get pregnant, we have been married for 3 1/2 years. Anyways, I made the call and I have to go to the seminar on Feb 20. After that I can make an appointment to meet the Dr. I already contacted my insurance company and they said they approved it with 6 months of being monitored on a diet. I have been involved in a program through my local gym called In Shape America. I have been doing that for 6 months. Hoping they will except that??????? Glad to meet everyone! Oh and by the way I am from Alabama!

That's great. It's nice to think about what the future may hold. I'm 31 (well soon to be), married with 2 children. I've always been overwieght, but just recently decided I want a change. I'm sick of going outside to play with my kids and just sitting there watching them run around. At my heaviest I weighed 271, but as of this morning I'm at 259. I went to the seminar on Jan 13th and know this is what I want. I'm going to the nurtritionist tomorrow for the first time and have my surgeon appt on the 17th. My insurance requires a 6 month dr. supervised diet too, but the nurse said they may accept my prior weight loss program, which I'm hoping they do.

Good luck....we should keep in touch. It's always nice to have someone along the way with you :(

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.
