Everyone is different. I took two weeks and am really glad I did. I thought I could go back after one week off - and I think if I had to I could have, but the second week really gave me time to recoup and build back my strength. My job is at a computer and sitting was a little uncomfortable - I am in my 4th week post op and still having a little "discomfort" (not pain) at my port site. Best wishes in your surgery . .. keep us posted!

Hey Maggs . .. hang in there. You will get it all worked out. Sorry you're having trouble, but it sounds like you're on the right track. Best of luck!
  4. I get filled up when I eat a meal with chicken (3 oz.) and a vegetable (1/4 c), then a fruit or carb. I am still supplementing with a protein shake in order to get in enough protein. I am not eating a full cup at each meal yet (but I'm only in my 4th week). I had a concern earlier with only taking in 465 - 500 calories and had to up that a bit. I haven't had trouble with any foods yet, but have been really, really careful (no bread, etc.), and I chew everything really well. I have been using a lemon pepper marinade and cooking the chicken in it on the stove top (with a lid) - it's really moist and tender. Good luck!! Rose

Good for you raajr . . .take it easy and be good to yourself - take time to heal. I am 3 weeks post op and my port incision is still quite sore. Everyone heals differently, but I understand that this is quite common. Best wishes and keep us posted on your progress.
  9. Amen. And yes, listening is often lost in the busyness. You have a good heart. Take care of yourself. Best wishes as you head back to work.

I hope things go smoothly for you, but be prepared for some bumps . . .just keep doing what is required and you will get there. Best wishes and prayers for both you and your hubby. My son finished his service with the Marines last year and we're so glad to have him home. God's best to you both.

Yesterday marked the end of my third week post surgery. I was off work for two weeks and returned to work last week. I finally feel as though I'm getting into a routine with what I need to do and eat - and it's a good thing. It feels good. My face looks thinner to me and clothes are fitting differently. I did not have any bathroom scales at home before surgery, so I'm going by my doctor's office scales. I stopped in there today for a weight check and have lost 20 pounds (pre and post op)- I am thrilled! I have said since I started this that I truly don't care if the weight comes off slowly (not that I call this slowly, but I know it will slow down), but my main focus is to have the weight stay off. That has never happened for me. I'm so thankful for this site and for all the help and encouragement I read here every day. God's best to you all, my fellow bandsters . . here we go . . :tt2:
  13. I have that book, nbrett. I have another one too and I like the Weightloss for dummies better. Some good recipes. I just ordered the one by Margaret Furtado - it is supposed to be highly recommended and I previewed it online and it looked good. So, a lot of jibberish to say that I think the book is pretty good.

I am so sorry Leigha, what can I say? Better days ahead and hang in there. Lesson learned on the bagel for now, huh? Back at it tomorrow .. . I know, I know . . yadda, yadda, yadda . .. but I really am sincere and wish you the best.

I agree with Bklynike . . . maybe at best. I sure wasn't, but some sound like they bounce back a little quicker .. I'm an old gal (sort of). And I was still taking pain medicine (for 5 days), so I could not drive. Best wishes for a great surgery and the start of your life long journey. Keep us posted.
  17. ha ha . . .great story! And my husband would be doing the same as yours . . .laughing, laughing. Isn't it wonderful? Good for you - I'll bet you feel great. Have fun shopping :-)
