  1. What a frustration, I am sorry. But keep the faith and keep in contact with your nutritionist. I hope the next fill really does what you need. Try to not get discouraged, although it is understandable. Remember, this is just a short phase on the long journey . . .**hugs**

Good advice to yourself and others, Llyra . . .I am listening - are you :-) Best wishes.

This is the part where we KNOW that we did not take the "easy way out" or that we are a "cheater" (as someone called me last week - can you imagine?), but it is still work and still requires a tremendous amount of will power - you did it and you have it -- good for you!

Yeah! We've all felt the fears, but this is so totally worth it. Best wishes and keep us posted on your progress.
  5. This sounds delicious Debra. I love roast pork and the cumin and dried fruit sounds like a winning combination. Thanks!

I cannot add a darn thing that hasn't already been posted; however, because you ARE so encouraging, I must put something in print to send you my support. I know you will pull out of this little funk . . .keep doin' what we're supposed to be doin' and it will work! Hang in there and God bless!

Thanks for your post. I was banded 7/15 and also have not had a fill..when I saw my doctor we didn't even discuss it because I'm just doing well and not hungry until it's meal time. I wondered how I would know when it's time for a fill. I've followed your posts each time you've gone for a scheduled fill and then decided to not have the fill. I appreciate reading about the changes you're experiencing. Good luck with your upcoming decision and let us know how it goes for sure!

I had a lot of gas with my protein shakes (no sugar added Carnation Instant Breakfast), my doctor suggested I change from milk to Lactaid and it made a huge difference. . . .are you using milk? Switching might help . . .best wishes!

Yes, I went closet shopping today. I've lost 30 pounds and it was time to make a change. Some of my clothes were just too big - wow, what a great thing to say! And you know, I've read posts on here by people who have said they completely got rid of their "big" clothes. I struggled and debated about this all morning . . . I just can't do it. I put most things in a box to give away (I have lots of friends and relatives who will be glad to get them, I know). But the dress clothes for work that cost sooo much . .. I put away. It makes me a little sad, but I just can't trust it yet . .. I am losing weight, sure, but the weight has ALWAYS come back - ALWAYS. Will the band be enough to really allow me to keep off the weight this time? That IS my goal and that is the reason I got the band - I've posted here before that I truly don't care if the weight comes off slowly, as long as it stays off. I don't know, what do you think? Does this make me a pessimist to think that the weight might return? I hope and pray that when I reach my goal weight I stay there . . . I'm just not sure. For today, it was encouraging and fun to pull a smaller size out of the closet (I have multiple sizes in multiple closets like most of us). I'll keep working and making healthy choices and see where this road takes me . . I'm lovin' it so far! Here we go . .
  13. 12 sounds great to me too! You'll get there!!

I am looking for breakfast ideas. I am having the same thing every day . . . egg whites scrambled with some low fat cheese and I also have 2Tbsp. of yogurt in which I crush up and add my medication. I would love to have something I could eat on the road as I have an hour drive to work. Ok . . . whatcha got?

I did the chew / spit thing also . . . and it was pizza also. It just tasted so good and because I didn't swallow, no harm, no foul.

I agree with sandra . . all of those helped get me through. When was your surgery? I was off work for 2 weeks and returned on the 3rd week - 10 hour days with an hour commute . .. exhausting, but the next week was better and this week, I'm doing better still. Take care of yourself.

Hi! I am 5 weeks post op and still have some discomfort at my port site (the big incision). I just saw the surgeon yesterday for follow up and he said it's because the port is stitched into muscle and tissue and that it will get better. I do call it discomfort - certainly not pain. Overall, I feel great!
  20. I am also 5 weeks post op today - wow! I saw the surgeon yesterday and we didn't even talk about a fill - I'm not hungry other than when it is my meal time and I'm still losing weight. Wow, what's the deal with the fluid in your abdomen? Did he give you an idea why you had that? I haven't heard of that before. Hope all goes well for you!
  21. Congratulations, it sounds like you are doing very well. Thanks for sharing your experience.
  22. I was banded 7/15 and eat only 3 times/day. I still use one protein shake just to get my calories UP. I was only taking in 450 calories and was feeling fatigued - I'm still only at 670 - 720 calories each day . .. I am seeing the dietician next week. I just saw the surgeon for follow up and we didn't even talk about a fill - I'm not hungry. I know this will change, but right now I'm good. I eat 3/4 cup 3 times/day. Hope this helps . . remember everyone is different and it sounds like your doc's office has you eating more often than mine does . . so you have to go with what they tell you. Good luck. Oh, and remember to drink too - I get in at least 64 oz. of fluids/day.

Hi gabby, it sounds as if you are progressing pretty normal from my experience and from what I've read from others on this site. I was off work for 2 weeks and went back in my 3rd week and was really wiped out . . .it takes time to heal and regain strength. Be good to yourself.
  24. marw commented on Bklynike's blog entry in Blog 90427
Hi Bklynike, I am 5 weeks post op and tried after 3 weeks to not use protein shakes . . I found I was only getting about 450 calories in a day (I was getting my 60 gm of protein), and I was getting fatigued, so I called the dietician and she said to continue the protein shakes until I can take in enough food to get the calories up. I use Carnation Instant Breakfast - No sugar added - (13 gms with milk) or Syntrax Nectar (many flavors and 23 gm of protein in water). I am curious how on earth to take in enough calories w/o the protein shakes ? Good luck on your quest - I'll be checking back to see what others say.
  25. Way to go!!! Congratulations.
