I actually used pain meds for several days .. I think everyone is different. But yes, walking is like the miracle drug . . it will help move the gas out of your system. I also used GASX. It will get better. Be good to yourself . . follow the plan and let yourself heal. Best wishes and welcome!

Ditto . .. to what both Bklynike and SAGARCIA have said. I am 3 weeks post op and loving it. Losing slowly, but my main goal is to KEEP the weight off . . something I have never been able to do. Best wishes in your decision making.

You are so right and I think many of us on this site share your pain. I'm so sorry for your situation, I know it's hard. Be strong for yourself. Work your plan with the band and be good to yourself. I don't envy you some tough decisions it sounds like you have in your future, but you will make it. **Hugs** and prayers.

I agree with sandy, I find lots of support and inspiration from these posts, but you have to do what is right for you . . lots of prayer and thought has to go into it. Read shonette's post right after yours . . .very nice. Best wishes.
  11. Very well put shonette . . . it takes work, but so worthwhile. I am in week 3 post op and just got my first compliment at work today . .. it felt so good! I hope your husband catches on that he can work WITH you on this - not against you. Best wishes!
  12. Thank you for your post - what an inspiration! You've blazed a great trail for many of us to follow. I look forward to hearing more from you. Best wishes.

Thanks suthrn and sandy, good suggestions. I do use the protein shakes . . .maybe I just don't understand the plan from my doc's office, as I said, they want 3 meals/day - no snacks (ideally) . ..but only 1/4 c protein, 1/4 c veg/1/4 c starch or fruit at each meal. ..I'm just having a really hard time consuming enough calories . .. and I'm still supplementing with a 23g Nectar (protein powder) in the afternoon to get enough protein in . .but at only 500 calories, that's just not enough. We have a support group meeting Wed. night and I'll get clarification . .anywho, I really like the idea of deli turkey around string cheese . .mmm I'll definitely try that! Thank you both sooo much!

Hey, all of you helpful bandsters . . a little advice please? I was banded 7/15/10 . . so I'm in my third week and just went to solid foods. I have been concentrating on getting in my 60 gm of protein, so have not looked at calories - until today. I added up the calories I'm consuming and it's only around 500 - yikes! The plan from my dietician says over the next 2 weeks, I am to try and cut out in-between snacks and have just the 3 meals/day. How do I increase calories while maintaining the 60 gm. of protein? And bear in mind please that I am NOT a fish eater .. . I can tolerate tuna, but that's about it. Thanks for your help . . . the dietician at the doctor's office is not available until Wednesday.
  15. Me too! And I think it helped me to just have that taste - it satisfied me. I wasn't suffering with the liquid diet, I just wanted to taste what I was smelling. No harm, no foul. Stick with your plan, you're doing great!

    Good for you!!!
  17. The comments above have said it all . .. be good to yourself and definitely call your doctor if you're still in pain - best wishes!
  18. So inspirational! Congratulations and keep up the good work. I'm waiting for that wonderful feeling too, but working while I wait - that IS the key isn't it? *Hugs*

Daisy, I'm sorry you are having that feeling of something stuck . ..I don't have any suggestions for you . . I did not experience that . . .I can offer you my support and best wishes. Perhaps call your doctor's office for suggestions. Let us know how it goes for you . . .thanks for sharing.

How about an elliptical machine? It is smaller than a treadmill and a much more intense work out than walking. Just a thought .. . good luck!

Sounds like you are well on your way PM, best wishes. The endoscopy is no big deal, in my opinion, I've had several and my dad had them every 3 months because he had esophogeal cancer. The way they are done here, you are under twilight sedation - not full anesthesia, so no breathing tube needed . . you go to sleep and when you wake up you don't remember a thing. Hope it goes that well for you. And I hope the rest of your testing goes well also. This is a great journey, welcome aboard.
