Hi everyone! So, I'm 3 weeks post op in my puréed phase. I start soft foods next Wednesday. I was curious as to when people started incorporating sushi back into their diet? I know not everyone likes it, but I really love sushi. Obviously the rice is a no-no, but what about sashimi?

I'm currently allowed to have flaky fish, so I feel like it might be okay now, but I wasn't sure about the raw aspect. I plan to email my Nut and ask, but I just wanted a few opinions here first!

Mmmmm sashimi! Once you are on soft foods you SHOULD be able. Check with your doctor and see what they have to say.

check with your doctor, but I added it back as soon as I was on soft. Salmon sashimi with avocado is amazeballs! i like it with a little lemon juice, sundried tomatoes, capers and chives now. You can make your own rolls later with hollowed out Cucumber, which was the first raw vegetable i added.

I was thinking soft foods as well, but I'm gonna give the nutritionist a call!

Good stuff, indeed.

I had some the week before Christmas when eating at a tasty Asian spot with my father & sister. Great flavors. Wasabi makes it.

I think I had my first somewhere around week 10.

Oof. I had some tuna sashimi the night before I was cleared for soft food (my sister's birthday at a snazzy restaurant). I was in pain through the next day. I can now eat it, but it took several months for the fear to wear off. Love me some sashimi. My favorite hibachi grill place used to carry baby octopus, which I love beyond a healthy point, but they closed before I was up to eating it. :(

I still avoid tuna because it can have those tough tendony pieces

I would wait a few more weeks. My Nut told me to avoid raw foods for a while (including veggies) because they are harder to digest and make your stomach work harder than cooked foods. I had my first at week 10.

I eat it whenever my friends go out. They know if I'm going we're going for sushi and I'm getting sashimi. Our vegan friend has some avocado and cucumber rolls and everyone is happy. I love Indian but everything is pretty carb-loaded and in heavy butter sauces.< /p>

I eat sashimi 2 or 3 times a week, starting when I was cleared for soft foods. It is one of my greatest culinary pleasures.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
