You know you lost weight when
When you don't recognize yourself in the window reflection. When you have to buy a coccyx pillow - yowch!

What to tell people?
It's nothing to be ashamed of. I tell anyone who seems to have any questions. I'd rather be a shining star than hide under a lie.

New Suit For Eldest Daughter's Wedding.
Is the venue a Margaritaville resort? If so, you're on the money!

You know you lost weight when
When you have to fix your rear view mirror because you're sitting lower than you used to. When you can buy boots - and they fit!

Does it get better?
It does get better As time passes, you will discover what your tum likes and what it loathes. Me, I can't eat Chinese food anymore; for my sister, it's salads. At 10 months I miss the early days of mimimal portions and, yes, even the pain because it meant I'd had my procedure.

NSV !'
Oh, this is funny! I hope you didn't hurt anything but your pride. It's funny, but just this afternoon I sat on the floor and got up several times -- for no other reason but because I can! Thanks for making me realize these things are, in actuality, NSV's!

Complications from advancing diet too soon
And Gawd forbid you tell anyone who cannot even stick to the pre-op diet that they should consider getting (psychological) help. It's like you told them their family tree didn't branch. I'm guilty of a lot of WLS sins. As are most of us. So if we survived our surgery and have worked it so that our weight has come off, pay attention. We've all been noobs. And we've all needed help of one sort or other.

Sashimi?
Oof. I had some tuna sashimi the night before I was cleared for soft food (my sister's birthday at a snazzy restaurant). I was in pain through the next day. I can now eat it, but it took several months for the fear to wear off. Love me some sashimi. My favorite hibachi grill place used to carry baby octopus, which I love beyond a healthy point, but they closed before I was up to eating it.

Divorce
Never argue with a drunk. It's not worth the energy or blood pressure. I'm sorry that this happened during what should have been a celebratory time. Did he leave marks? Take pictures. Make a police report and back this up. Make the new year the best one ever! Living well is the best revenge.

My mental battle with Food and the scale
You're doing great! It took me about 50 lbs. to lose a size. I was also told that I was on track. I think there's such a lot between 400 to 299 to 199 and then some that the period between those '99's can become overwhelming. But the feeling of hitting a new '99 is the best feeling in the world! I keep two pieces of motivation in the bathroom by the scale. It's all fun and games until your jeans don't fit; and, Small progress is still progress. Also seen in internet travels: I can't lose 100 lbs. But I can lose 10 lbs. 10 times.

Resolutions for the New Year
My resolution would be to hit goal -- 170 lbs., with an option for 10 more. And if I have to cut off a toe to get to Onederland by tomorrow, I'm going to do it! Cinderella's ugly stepsisters ain't got nothing on me. I woke up at 200 lbs. even this morning and I'd love to wake up in a new year in ONEDERLAND, dammit!

Genepro Protein?
At this point I use GENEPRO to goose up my Protein levels if my daily protein is low. I love it because other Proteins give me horrific digestive ... issues.

Awaken by your own cold body
I'm sitting here in jeans, socks, and two shirts - one flannel - and shaking. I get so cold my back seizes up and goes into spasm. I broke down and bought an electric mattress pad. It really helps. Too bad I can't stay in bed all day.

Did You Change Your Weight Loss/Maintenance Goals for the Holidays?
My original plan was to have Thanksgiving and Christmas be dessert days - and screw the protein! And I did indulge in Desserts on Thanksgiving -- many, many desserts, but in small portions and if it wasn't knock your socks off great, I only ate one bite of that particular item. Now this Christmas I find myself in the position of needing to lose a little over 3 lbs. to drop below 200 lbs. by the end of year. So, no, I'm sticking to plan as hard as possible and will enjoy a break late in January for my birthday.
