I had surgery on 10/4. Im on stage 3 and hopefully moving to stage 4 next week. I have had 6 different Protein Shakes and they all make me nauseous. My taste buds make me hate Water. Its like they are adding a weird taste to it. Anyone else feel like this? Im happy about my results but stage 3 is rough. Even the Protein shakes i cant stand anymore and i tried Isopure and it made me throw up. Any words of advice or suggestions? Do my taste buds go back to normal?

I hated Isopure, tasted pretty nasty...every flavor. Very strong medicinal taste, to me.

Get yourself some GENEPRO powder. It's almost totally flavorless and mixes nice. I have mixed it with Crystal Light, Hormel Chili, and even Taco Bell pintos & cheese. One tablespoon is 30g of Protein, so it's a great alternative to Protein shakes. I'm with you, after four weeks straight of surviving on them, I was so sick of those shakes I couldn't stand it. The GENEPRO has been a great discovery.

As for the taste buds, I'm fortunate that my surgery didn't create any changes in how I perceive the taste of things. I don't know if that'll be a permanent thing, or if it's hormone-based, or what. But some people do say that their tastes change after surgery, in which case you kind of just have to find new things that will work. In terms of Water, I'd try to see if purified or R/O Water makes any difference. It might be the metals in the water or something else, that are bugging you.

Yes to all. Also I am hypersensitive to smells and textures of food. Makes me wonder if this is how it is for people who don't struggle with their weight.

Hate to tell you I am 9 weeks out. It's hard. Your tastes change. I just stick with premier Protein chocolate. I used to love the pumpkin shake from GNC. Water is hard to drink. It's getting better. For me but slowly. food is not so enjoyable anymore. Probably a good thing. But we are losing weight. Which is the point. Good luck and keep the faith

I'm 5 weeks post op from having the sleeve done. My tastebuds definitely have changed big time!!! And I start getting a gag reflex going if I smell certain things. It's crazy. Makes it hard to find anything that tastes good. I finally called my doctors office about it. I was getting to where I just wasn't eating. They told me the body is going thru ketosis, burning your fat reserves. There are toxins being burned and hormonal changes going on that can affect your tastebuds. I have to use mouthwash a couple times a day, plus brushing my teeth a couple times a day helps. It's just weird how nothing tastes good anymore. We just have to hang in there.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
