I'm 5'3. Started at size 22. Currently in size 10. I am 30 pounds from goal. I would say size six would be ideal. At goal I would probably be an eight. But that would be at the high end of normal bmi.

I am currently in a size 6 dress. Sometimes an 8, depending on the make. I feel a size 6, for me, is ideal but I wouldn't be mad if I ended up in a size 4. As long as the dress has sleeves. It's so hard to find dresses with sleeves anymore. :)

Oh I put waist size by mistake, ideal dress size is 8-10 which now I'm in a 10 and at my surgeons goal but I want to lose 10 more. I started at size 22.

Dress size doesn't mean much without height. Kinda like goal weight. I like the lean look and at 5'6" I wear a size 6 or small in women's clothes from most stores. In pants, a 28.

Lynda

Lynda, we are similarly sized ant height 5'6". At 139 lbs I am in tight 6's but I think in 4 pounds the 6 will fit perfect.

After my mommy makeover next year, that size 6 could possibly be a 4. I have a bunch of loose skin on my stomach.

In my 20's I was a size 5-6 before I had a child - I was very athletic - after having a child the smallest I was able to get to was a 10. My first goal is 10 - but looking forward to getting into an 8. Currently wearing 14 size dresses, but they are starting to get really loose on me - but holding out until I reach 10 again before shopping for dresses :)

Alex, one of the problems with this poll is vanity sizing is OUT OF CONTROL.

I went pants shopping yesterday and fit most 6's although some 6's were too big. Last time I was at White House Black Market I weighed 10# more than I do now I fit into their 2's-4s....I'd probably be a 0-2 at my current weight. I tried on a true designer label a few months back... and I was more like an 8... so what size do I wear?

Most of my dresses are 8-10s but I am bigger on top then on the bottom. Yet, some tops the small fits and the mediums are too big.

Seriously, the sizing is so inconsistent it is almost meaningless.

I consider being "single digit" sizes to be a big success - but frankly anything without a "W" after it was my idea of successful results post weight loss surgery. My all time largest size pants were 32W (plus sizes use a whole different system) and I pretty much wore 2-3X tops.

Oh Alex...I've had two children and am down more than 120 lbs. It just has to look good on me. And I don't care about the size as long as I'm not in the women's (plus) section anymore...which I'm not.

You'd be surprised but vanity sizing occurs in mens clothing as well. I frankly find it very annoying but I've come to accept it.

I look best as a size 4. Getting back there the second time is even more fun. ;) In vanity sizing I was fitting a 0 or a 2. I loved it.

For the first time in my life I am able to wear a size 8 dress!!! I have not met my goal (still have 30+ lbs to go but I am able to wear the "dream" clothes I bought a year ago. I will watch what I eat but I am not as focused on loosing these last few lbs since I can wear the clothes!

I think an 8 would be ideal. I can't imagine i would possible get much smaller than that.

Saw my doctor today and he is thrilled where I am now. I wear size 14 pants. I would love 12. I have never worn a 12 in my life. Dress size , don't know. Never wear them. I think a 12 there also.

I'm a size 8, and a small in Lands End dresses. :-)

Height definitely figures into it. I'm barely 5' tall - my doc says 4'11" but I claim the whole 5 feet! Sometimes even petite sizes are a little too long. :-)

Thank you everyone for your well wishes! I totally forgot I wrote an update here... I'm one week post op today. I gained 15 lbs in water weight overnight because they had to give me tons of fluids to bring my BP up after surgery! I stayed one night in the hospital. Everything has been fine except I seem to have picked up a bug while I was there and I've been running a low grade fever, coughing, and a sore throat. So I've been hydrating well and sleeping a ton. So far the Covid tests are negative.
I haven't been able to advance my diet past purees. Everything I eat other than tofu makes me choke and feels like trying to swallow rocks. They warned me it would get worse before it gets better, so lets hope this is all normal. I have my follow up on Monday so we'll see. Living on shakes and soup again is not fun. I had enough of them the first time!! LOL

Still purging all of the larger clothing. This morning, a shirt that I ADORED wearing ended up on top. Hard to let it go, but it was also hard to let go of those habits that also no longer serve my highest good. Onward and upward!

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!
