I got my band today. I'm glad the surgery is over! I was beyond scared this morning. But I'm feeling pretty well. The gas pain is more painful than the incisions...its feels like I'm having a heart attack, but I've been up and walking and the pain is slowly going away. So now I'm on the road to recovery! Good luck to the upcoming banders!!

Congratulations. Walks are very important and use a heating pad on your back and I even put it on my shoulder discomfort to help alleviate the gas. I was lucky and only had the gas overnight. I drove my car the next day to a weight loss support group meeting at my local hospital.

Best wishes and Keep the Faith.

Congrats!! The gas gets better with walking, walking, walking! I woke up at 4:30 am and walked my driveway! Breathing in the cool air felt good! Also, it does hurt so take a pillow, but if you need to cough, DO IT!!! It helps clear your lungs after surgery.

Thank goodness for posts like this. My doc never mentioned the gass pains and I would be in a full panic attack experiencing these symptoms. Grateful for the heads up!

Yup. Gas pain is part of it, because, they pump your belly full of either air or gas to expand their view in there and also so they can move your organs out of the way to place the band and port. I had to stay in hospital overnight, because of insurance requirements, and was very glad of it because my left side of neck was having spasms. They gave me injections for the pain. Also be prepared for Constipation. Have your laxatives already purchased and at home, just in case you need it. Better safe than sorry. Good luck. It is all worth it in the end and discomfort is replaced on real hope.

Thanks everyone. The pain is getting better. I plan on going outside today and talking a short walk. I am so glad I found this app on my phone. It helped prepare me for surgery and so far its helped with post surgery. Thank you for the heating pad and laxatives advice. I'm going to do both.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
