December Bandsters 2009

Recommended Posts

I was nausiated and headachy for the first three days of my liquid diet. Then something clicked and it was no problem.

Today I start my pureed diet and I don't like anything. I just want a shake. I thought baby food would be a simple thing for my hubby to prepare ( I broke my knee last week and am immobile) but its just plain gross!

What are you eating on your pureed phase?

Kim, I have had good luck with scrambled eggs and cottage cheese. I was banded dec 8th. Wish you well.

K banded on friday- don't remember much. My mom came and got me and took care of me for the last 2 days... I strictly stayed on the 48hr post op diet. Today I had yogurt. Then I got daring and had a couple of pinches from a piece of pumpkin bread, then 2 deviled eggs, then a teaspoon of all of the following: mashed potato, stuffing, green bean casserole, Jello salad, and a bite of turkey.

Yes it was "turkmas" at my house... and I ate basically a bite or two of everything with no issues. I intend onn having pumpkin pie later too..

The surgery was quick and annoying (the nursing staff and anantheisiologist) and I don't remember friday, yesterday was sore and gassy. Today was less sore, more gassy. But I woke up hungry and wanting to eat, not a lot, just eat something of substance. So far so good. I know I know post op diet.. you do you, I'll do me

Well I'm banded. I had my surgery on Friday at 7:30 am. I spent Friday night in the hospital due to the repair of a hiatal hernia. I am so glad that I stayed though, IV morphine is a wonderful thing.

Came home yesterday and still feel sore, but the gas pain is so much better (don't remember this much with my lap gall bladder surgery in July). I thought I was having a heart attack on Friday afternoon.

I am so lucky to have my wonderful husband taking care of me, he makes sure that I get my meds on time and is making me great food (if you can call turkey broth food).

I am glad that I took the time to make homemade turkey carcass broth before my surgery date. The broth in the hospital tasted like it had been wrung out of a dirty dish rag.

Hope everyone is doing well and good luck to those still waiting.

Well less than 24 hours to go before I'm banded. This time tomorrow I'll be in recovery. I've been told that if I can drink Water with no issues and my x-rays of the band placement come out ok, I'll be released around noonish tomorrow. I'm so excited.

Ps. Best news - I've lost 20 pounds already

2 days post op. Gas pains are worse for me than the incision pain. I had a hard time the first day as the anethesia did not agree with me. I couldnt get up and walk as much as I needed to due to nausea. Luckily the nausea has passed. Yes, I'm sore, yes, I have gas but this too shall pass. (no pun intended)

Cawells, you will be doing great in no time and loved the pun. You hit it right - the incision pain was inconsequential compared to the other discomforts. My gas pain seemed to go right into my left shoulder. My whimpering paid off as I got my wife to give some great shoulder massages. We are holding your cyber hand in support. The first 4 days kicked my shrinking butt worse than I expected and then day 5 brought amazing relief. Walking was tough but seemed to help. Time helped most of all.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
