Is my band too tight?

Recommended Posts

I just had my first fill on 5 days ago. They started my lap band at 4cc at time of surgery. They added 2cc's more bringing me to a total of 6cc's. Everything I try and eat feels like it is stuck and I have mini throw-ups. It hurts so bad! At 4cc I had hardly any restrictions! I have the lap band ap. Please advice me! Do I need to have some removed???

If it were me, I wouldn't hesitate to go in for a small unfill. You're barely a month into having a band, and you have plenty of time to slowly work your way to good restriction, which doesn't include continually feeling stuck and/or having pb's.

If you try to stick this fill out a few more days, go back to soft foods. If you're having trouble with the soft foods, stay on liquids for a couple more days then try soft foods again. If, in the next few days, you can't tolerate solid foods, then you definitely need a small unfill. Don't continue to let yourself pb because it's harmful to your band and also could lead to more swelling and then you might need a total unfill.

Restriction does NOT mean mini throwups and pain etc...Get to a doctor asap for a small de-fill. Then take it easy for a day or two and eat mushies or liquids, and give your stomach a chance to relax. The more irritated it is, the more difficult it is to function propoerly and therefore you begin a vicious cycle of pain.

Listen to Kiz and TapShoes....you're too tight. Call the doc this morning and get in as soon as they can see you. A small unfill of, say, .2cc could make all the difference between where you are now and being able to eat and drink comfortably.

Yes, it sounds like you are too tight. As everyone already mentioned, go to see your surgeon ASAP and tell him/her of your issues. Likely they will take some out, how much would be up to them. They are the experts, not you or any of us. However, they will never know there is an issue unless you tell them. Please take it from someone who was too tight for too long. It caused me a lot of grief and way more problems than I really should be dealing with right now.

Best wishes on your journey!

I know mine is. Had fill yesterday and going in for slight unfil today. GURD so bad it was coming out my nose last night (gross but true). Coughing, not being able to drink Water - all the nasty signs of too much of a good thing. I'm not waiting to take care of this. I was ok in the drs office but it hit me a few hours later. Such is life!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
