I lost my Job

I think I became a threat to the others in the the office. The thin man come out of the fat man.

I'm losing my fear of mirrors - although I don't completely love what I see yet - I know the day is coming! I no longer look away from them!

I have lost many things along with the 87 pounds lost so far.

1. Lost the shame I once had for letting myself go.

2. Lost my relationship with my sister who is now so jealous she doesn't want anything to do with me.

3. Lost my huge appetite for food.

Happy,

I'm sorry to hear that. Hopefully, she will come around over time.

I have the same problem with my mom. She's always been proud of the fact that she's weighed less than me ever since I was 15 years old. I only have to lose another 4 pounds to be under her weight and it's creating a real problem between us.

I'm not sure what the answer is but it's sure not for us to stay fat.

On Christmas Day I lost my underwear. Yep, I was walking across the living room when all of a sudden I noticed my underwear had slipped down off my hips and the only thing keeping them on was the crotch of my also too loose dress pants. Thank God I wasn't wearing the dress I originally intended wearing or they would've been around my ankles!

I'm new in this game but so far:

* I don't miss thinking about what my next big fat meal is going to be

*I don't think about food and eating 24/7

*I've lost some puffiness in my face

I've gained:

*More energy and a "get up and do it" attitude

*The ability to not care what others think about me and always wanting to be liked

*The time to enjoy cooking instead of going out to eat every meal or 10+ times a week

An odd unexpected side effect is that I have no sympathy for fat people anymore....they disgust me....I wonder if that's how normal sized people have always seen bigger people...I'm still trying to wrap my mind around how I feel about these unexpected feelings..

"Disgust" is such a strong word...and no not all normal sized people are disgusted by fat people because not all normal sized people are intolerant or supercilious, unable to walk a mile in the other person's shoes.

You have an advantage. You've walked that mile and you know that without the band you weren't able to do it either. Now...imagine that other person who maybe doesn't know about the band...who doesn't have insurance that will pay for it...who doesn't have any kind of income that allows them to even save for it.

Instead of being disgusted, feel blessed that you were not in any of those positions.

I guess I am more disgusted by my friends and family whom I always hear "We're starting a diet next week" and it NEVER happens and I'm sick of hearing about diets. I've been "dieting since I was 10 and someone bought me Richard Simmons Deal-A Meal for Christmas..... I've done Jenny Craig, Nutri-system, Weight Watchers, Atkins, you name it. I'm disgusted by the rest of my family who likes being fat slobs and eating till the cows come home, except my mom she's getting her lapband in February. We are in this together and want to change our lives for the better.

I experienced this also, thankfully it was short-lived! I knew that it was terribly wrong to think that way but my mind went there anyways! I had a couple of good friends who I had previously asked to "check me" if I started being a snotty skinny beotch, and they took me to task over this one. Fortunately it passed in a few weeks, and now I find myself much more sympathetic than I was before weight loss. Weird stuff! And you are right, totally unexpected.

that is a great way of putting it.. i applaud the way you said it.. you never know underlying circumstances in peoples lives.. i'm sure no one chooses to be obese or morbidly obese.. atleast that's not what i wanted in life.. and here i am now blessed to be banded, to have a speedy recovery. Judge and that will be the way you will be judged in the end. Not everyone is concerened with other peoples feelings, but there comes a point where you are just being childish and down right rude. it's so sad to see people walk through life thinking well my life is shitty or i've been givin a shitty hand SO everyone elses lives should be.. or i'm going to cast my horrible outlook on life onto them.. take care!!! i was banded december 23rd and am now on my 5th day of recovery and i slept!!! on the left side... wow.. talk about speedy!!!

I'm so glad I came accross this post! I pay for electrolysis on the chin hairs (which I will put on pause) and I have a shoe catalog on my bed (Which I'll trash). After a pregnancy my shoe size went up, so I'm glad to see that some lost a size.

There is some hope!

I have lost a hump of fat on the back of my neck. I put on my favorite necklace and noticed it hung lower than it use to. When I mentioned it to my husband he told be about the "hump" being gone. I had no idea it was there.........

Then it dawned on me...THEY ARE YOUR NECK/BACK BONES!!! I hadn't felt them for as long as I can remember! What a thrilling discovery! Good bye to the neck fat hump!!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
