Today is my surgery day! I am due in at 11:30 for all the poking and prodding! I should be in the surgery room at 12:30 and out by 1:15 if I go by the time schedule my doctor has told me.

Hurray! I have my bag packed as I am required to stay overnight. All is left is to gas up the car, drop the prescriptions off, take my son to the sitter and we are on the way.

I am still wowed about this as I never thought this day would arrive and here it is. So thank you all for the support and information.

I will post afterwards!

Barb, sounds like you and I are almost exactly the same. Same height, same weight. I know it's hard to admit, but we ARE doing something about it, so let's be proud!

Day #3 Post Op:

I'm feeling much better today thank god... It was AWFUL yesterday! UGH never wanna go through that again.

Yesterday night I took the dogs out for a brief walk to the mail center then when I got back home I was almost ready to puke but I didn't. Good thing I didn't because it wouldn't be good for me and the band. I still couldn't be able to sleep on the bed, because I was too sick, I was afraid I wld puke on the bed :) so I slept on the sofa's recliner til 7 am then I tried to get in the bed and it was a success. Slept for an hour and half then now I'm awake, drinking my Breakfast Gatorade. And some of the liquid Tylenol for my pains on the incisions.

Now goal of today: drink 64oz of liquids.

Today I'm able to shower my full body with the incisions too.

Cheers!

Ketosis is when your body no longer has energy from carbs to burn, so it begins to burn fat instead for energy, which causes "ketones" to form. It is common in high Protein, low carb diets, such as Atkins, and most of our lovely "pre op diets".

Sometimes, you will notice a change in your breath, or taste in your mouth. Sometimes sweat and urine smell different. Not necessarily bad, jsut different.

guys the ketosis is a good thing it means you're burning lots a fat which we want. The only bad thing is that the acetone is released in your saliva which makes it smell bad. My partner complained about it and now I carry orbit gum in my pocket. I've been doing a lot of walking around my campus but haven't been sweating a whole lot. I guess it's because I haven't been staying as hydrated as I should.

This morning I felt a bit better, but then when I started to drink down the liquids, I started to feel the same way as I did yesterday- stuck. Felt like there was no air in my stomach, it made me nauseous & dizzy!

UGH anyone experiencing this too?

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.
