Seems like most of you have the 10 or 14 cc band "installed". Im looking for others who have a 4cc, like myself.

Let's talk. Make yourselves known! :-)

I likewise have a 4cc band. I am currently filled with 2cc's but go for my second fill on Monday. I have very little restriction right now, so my second fill cannot come soon enough! My DH wanted to go to Outback tonight, and I was able to eat 1/2 of a salad and 1/2 of a 6 oz. steak--ate VERY slowly, chewed VERY well, and swallowed VERY tentatively but was able to eat steak for the first time since mid-June.

Hello there!

I have a 4cc band....I was banded in August 2006. I currently have 1.5 ccs in Linus, but at one point was at 3.75 ccs. I lost a total of 165 in 18 months and have mantained it for 19 months. So I am kinda an old hand at this! :frown:

1) Although I never chose the cc capacity of my band, I was wondering why I had a 4cc as opposed to most people who have 10 or 14cc.

2) Also, I read that in the end, when filled to the max, all bands (regardless of cc #) all have the same diameter.

Is this true?

I was banded in Sept. 2008 with a 4cc band. My surgeon was inexperienced and had only done 22 before mine. Unlike others who tell about how their doctor chose the band size when he went in because of their size, etc... I think mine chose mine purely for monetary reasons.

He and his partner (general, not bariatric surgeons) took over the practice of a retiring bariatric surgeon. I assume that meant all the equipment and supplies. The bands have expiration dates (guaranteed sterility dates) and my band's was June 2009. So, I think he was using up old inventory before it's expiration date and before he would have to buy new ones. I don't think my size had anything to do with it.

He overfilled me with the second fill (a total of 3 cc's) and then blamed me for my problems until he saw the upper GI results then unfilled me 1cc.

I took all my test results, including my CD of my upper GI to another doctor for a second opinion and then left my original surgeon for him in April of this year. Best move I ever made. My new surgeon is a bariatric surgeon and he is much more experienced and helpful.

I currently have 2cc, not a lot of restriction, but will not have another fill until I have another upper GI to determine if all the damage my former surgeon did is gone.

I have a 4cc band, banded December 05.

Its always worked well for me, I lost easily, and more importantly, I believe I found and kept good restriction WAY more easily than people with the larger capacity bands seem to.

Like Cleo's Mom has pointed out, these bands only need tiny fills - my final ones were 0.1cc. I think I went 1 cc, 0.5 cc, 0.3 cc and then a couple of 0.1's over a three year period (had some small adjustments after hitting goal weight).

When i was banded, nearly everyone in Australia was getting 4cc bands, but there was sizes 9.75cm and 10 cm (the circumference). I got a 9.75 because the surgeon said at a BMI of 35, that would be best, I simply didnt have as much internal fat to lose, and he felt the 10 would become loose for me and require a lot more adjusting.

But yes, they're all the same diametre, the actual capacity of them doesnt affect the size in the end, but it can be harder to get good restriction.

Hi Everyone, I have a 4cc band. Was banded on 9/4/08. Almost my 1 year bandiversary! I've only had 4 adjustments. Last one was a 1 cc. unfill from 'almost 3 cc's' 1 month ago. Monday I go in for a fill. I need more restriction.

Hi 4cc bandsters,

It's great to hear of your successes. I am 5 days post-op with a 9.75 cm/4cc band.

My daughter pre-op wanted me to have one of the bigger bands(10cc or 14cc). I figured the older style worked or so many wouldn't of had it. And if it takes less fills to lose the weight, all the better.

But her comments made me worry a little. You all have put my mine to rest.

Go bandsters!

I have a 4cc band. There were three patients who were banded with me and two of us got the 4cc band. The other a 10cc. I've only had one fill, and I think it's still working for me. I think I'm at 3.25??? I can't remember. I probably need another fill, but I do still have some restriction.

Hi:

I have the small band too. It's worked for me. I am close to my weight goal, and am at my size goal. I think I'm at 2.0 cc's. I was as high as 2.5 cc's, but never worked up to that since I was unfilled for Tummy Tuck in May 2009. If I lose another ten pounds or so I probably will need .5 cc's to be tight again. Right now I'm comfortable where I am.

Best wishes to you. I love my band and my new flat tummy!

Sue

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
