18 months out and need advice

Recommended Posts

I have had a bad year. The first six month went very well and then I just blew it. I figured I knew what to do.(wrong) Had some stressful situations. (excuses). Knee replacement surgery. (excuses.) I need to get back to work. I'm wondering of I should get another fill. I had 2 fills for a total of 6cc. I wonder how litttle I should try. The band still works I can feel restriction sometimes. I get suck sometimes eating to fast or not chewing I think. I have been on a sweet binge too. On the positive side I have gotten back to the gym doing 30 cardio (knee permitting) and 20 minutes in the pool. I'm thinking I need more structure about my meals and calorie intake. Any recommemdations. What are your calorie intakes? Do you stay with the 1/2 cup Protein and 1/2 veggies? All input will be appreciated:wub:

Thanks, Sue

Try journaling every bite you eat and when you eat it (most journals just ask you to log what you eat)! Journaling when you ate it as well may point out a pattern that you can work to change.

And, make an appointment with your doc! Discuss your circumstances, eating habits, etc. and whether or not you need another fill. Maybe try to see the nutritionist for some guidance, too?

There are days I eat more than the recommended amounts, but I try not to go berserk with food...and the band helps me to accomplish that. As long as I'm losing, I consider it a success because without the band, I'd most certainly be gaining!

I agree, I would set up an appt with your doctor so you can let him/her know where you are at and get a solid assessment as to whether you need a fill or not.

I am a year out from surgery and based on my weight I am eating approximately 1000-1200 calories per day. I am supposed to be getting in between 70-90 grams of Protein per day. I have to admit I usually struggle with getting in all of the Protein, but I try.

I track my food on The Daily Plate (Livestrong.com) and use that to help me know where I am at on a daily basis. It will also let you track your exercise and it is a great way to know if you are getting in the nutrition you need.

I also agree about setting up a meeting with your nutritionist. They might have some great suggestions on how you can structure your meals and make sure that you are eating enough. Also make sure to check out the food and nutrition threads for good ideas and I also like the blog: theworldaccordingtoeggface.com

Good luck with getting back on your journey, recognizing it is half the battle!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
