you forgot me lol

Hi Everyone,

I work with dataases for a living so after seeing numerous versions I decided to go back to the beginning and add everyone in the list - I removed the duplicates and sorted by date and name.

So this should be the final list (I hope).

Congrats to all 77 October Bandsters!!!

Hi Oliver Dog,

I was banded Oct. 1 and had a similar twisting experience.

My port area was sore for almost a week if I remember correctly, still occasionally get a twinge. Had my 1st fill Oct. 28 and their were no problems seen at that time. My biggest trouble yet has been Constipation. Water and Fiber is a must.

Thanks for this sorry I havent got back to you, have been a bit unwell but better now. Drinking lots of water and getting my fibre in!! LOL....

Thank you very much Salbri!

Good luck to us on our journeys!

Hi Wisteria

We got banded on the same day!! Hope your feeling well, I am just about feeling ok now, went back to work too soon I think! I noticed you got a fill this week, my first fill is booked for 27th Nov, can you let me know how much difference it makes as I can eat now, not lots but enough and I wondered how the first fill makes a difference? Any thoughts would be good. Thanks for your help:thumbup:

Had my follow up appointment today and first fill. I was banded on October 15. I've lost 20 pounds so far. I was leary about my weight loss thinking, "what if my scale is weighing me differently than the doctor's" but it was confirmed. woot. I got my stitches out and everything seems to be healing well.

I got to see my surgeon (not his assistant physician). I talked to him about the Constipation and the Protein Shake causing it. He said I didn't have to take it, but to make sure I'm getting Protein in my diet.

Mushy foods for another week, and then weeks 5-8 bring in some more textured foods like ground beef/turkey, cooked veggies, fruits with no skin, etc.

The fill was a little more painful that people had led on, but it was okay. He only put in 3cc, had me drink a glass of Water. it went down fine...no problem. I told him but he said, we're taking it slow. In six weeks he will add more and said I will definitely feel it then. Liquids only for today. I had some Soup for dinner, and I really feel a lot fuller.

That's the update. How are you all doing?

Hello October Bandsters! I hope you all have had success in your recoveries and weight loss. I got banded on October 1st, and had my first fill today! (I found out today that I actually had 3 CCs put into my band while I was having the surgery). They added 1 CC today, making a total of 4. I was very surprised about how quickly and relatively painless the fill was. I think it was about 30 seconds, but I only really felt the "sting" for about 10 seconds. I HATE needles, so I was very happy that it went so quickly. I drank Water which went down fine, and then left. In-and-out in about 20 minutes (of course, it was a 3 hour drive each way) - but go to do some shopping on the way home!! :-)

I have been doing really well, lost 22.7 pounds so far, and am so super happy with my band. I have only had food stuck once where I actually had to bring it back up. I have had food half-stuck a few times where I just had to stop eating, swallow, PB, and then it was fine. So, considering I'm learning a totally new way to eat, I think it's going REALLY well. I'm so excited about what the future has in store.

I've taken photos and will be posting them up later. I can't believe how much difference 20 pounds makes. You do need to really look at the photos to see it, but you definitely can see it... I haven't had anyone comment on my weight loss yet (which I expected as I have lost and regained weight so many times in my life), but I'm still focused on my goals!

Anyways, don't want to make this TOO long.. haha

Good luck on your journey's everyone!

Tim

My doc let me eat normal since day 4, so i have only lost a couple of pounds since the surgery. I only eat like 1/3 less than i usually would and i really have to fight hunger sometimes. CONGRATS on the 20 LBS!!!! Like i said, i really need that fill. :cursing:

My surgery was October 1st and I have been doing great. I mentally count calories and have kept them about 1200 to 1500. I called my facilitator and asked if I really need a fill and she said she knows people who have lost over 200 lbs and never had a fill. She has only 1cc fill and was banded 4 years ago.

So because I have to pay for fills on my own (Banded in Mexico), I am going to wait until I quit losing at least 1 - 2 lbs per week or I find I'm hungry between meals.

Hi October Bandsters. I was banded on Oct. 23. Just started the mushie stage on Monday (11/2/2009). I'm down 20 lbs since surgery and already feeling better. I guess now I start what everyone calls "Bandster Hell" until my first fill in 5 weeks. I'm not hungry at all really. I'm listening to my stomach rather then my head (head hunger) and trying to keep myself busy.

Hope everyone is doing well and healing after surgery. Keep in touch.

Hi October Bansters hope you are all doing well. I am feeling much better now but had a bit of a turn a couple of weeks ago whilst away for work. Rested up was probably doing too much and went back to work too early but much better now.

Weight loss slowed down for me have only lost a pound in the last two weeks but going for my first fill next week so hopefully it will get better.

Not sure whats its like anyone got a info as I am a bit scared that they wont find the port and its right under my scar which also worries me a bit!!

Would you suggest I go back for another the week before Christmas or shall I wait until January as my family dont know I have a band (only my OH!!)

Hope everyone is doing well, it would be great to hear from you there are a lot of us and not many messages at the moment!!

Hi all!

so far so good!

I'm down 42lbs (including pre-op diet weight loss)

was scheduled for my first fill this week, but my DR and I decided that I have good restriction right now (full on 3/4 cup of food), I'll go for my first fill on Dec 3rd instead.

:bored:

Hope all are doing well!

Hey Peeps, Just checking in. Banded on 10/15/09. I've lost 27 pounds so far (including 2 week pre-op). Doing well. Joined Curves and actually like it! Been going 3-4 X a week. This is a big deal for me, since I've never ever been a "public exerciser". Weight loss slowed down last week...lost nothing, then this morning found 2 pounds missing. so maybe it's a good sign. Had my first fill on 11/4. He put in 3cc. I feel good restriction, but can eat more than 1/4 cup. eating about 1/2 cup - 3/4 cup...but still semi soft foods for another 2 weeks. Next fill is 12/16.

If you haven't taken your "before" measurements...do it now. It really helped when the scale wasn't moving. I've lost inches! Woot. Good luck to all of you.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
