Getting my hair done this morning. Wish I could do something short and sassy too, but my face just needs hair. Tried short after initial we loss--didn't like it. Have you guys tried the non-chipping nails? I think they're called Shellac. I did them in Arkansas, and they really did last about 2 weeks. Better than acrylics I think. But i' still not paying $35 to have them done every other week.

Oh yes, I need to tell you that we finally have some nice weather. Might need air-conditioning tomorrow! :)

Hi girls, Yes KARLA... I am biatch slapping you too hun.... pushing a car.... what were you thinking?

Got my TOEs done today, still RESSTING my finger nails.... since the last acrylics... they grow so well in the summer....

Janet, I guess time flies when we get older. Went into town to buy new koi for the pond. We went to fish them out of my friends pond and there weren't any left. So drove clear into Missoula and the pet store was out, are you kidding me!! Took Elyse into town and took her shopping for a birthday gift, found her a real nice outfit at Ross, also a chair I would love to have, but just too much money.

Came home and worked on the pond some more, hope to get it done tomorrow...we'll see.

Linda, yep kids are irritating, especially adult kids. They will do what ever they want even when it is wrong. Of course I was just as guilty at their age, married by 16, 3 kids by 22, divored by 25 and here I am grumbling about Elyse's choices, mine were worse and I survived. I guess we hope they don't make our mistakes...as they don't they just make new ones.

Janet, I have no plans for the 4th either, I may fire up the grill...if I can find it.

Candice, how about you fly into Missoula and paint for me?

Well, need to get some dinner, TTFN

Janet beat me! Happy Canada Day, Candice! Yup, I remember last year. . .getting up and drinking coffee on the deck, the parade, shopping, the food, the fun, the friends! Good times! I remember thinking how blessed I was to have you guys as friends.

My kids are good, Karla, it's my sister and mom who are giving me grief.

Candice, don't you worry a bit about having a clean house for us or anything else. Clean sheets and a shower would be nice, but that's all. I didn't clean when you came here!

Yeah, what's up Phyl? And Denise? What's happening with your job?

Karla, I'd really like to see pics of some of these projects--the pond and the house. We tried a pond once. It was a lot of work, and with our climate, not a lot of time to just enjoy it. We sold the house so I don't know what happened to it.

Yeah, clean houses. ..I gotta do mine this weekend. Sister, bro-in-law, and 5 kids coming Sunday, so all the little things, like cleaning switch plates and under the sofa need to be done. Then since everyone's coming here on Monday, I need to spruse up outside too. Still can't get up and down to pull weeds, so gotta get DH to do some of that. And windows, and grocery shopping. . . Why am I even sitting here posting? I need to get going

Good Morning! Headed out to PT in a short time. All packed up and ready to head over the mountains when I'm done. T & J already over there. Should be interesting, DGD coming w/her BF & their THREE dogs! Plus Zoey, Gigi & Misty! Oh, & T & J's 2 cats! candy is staying home and she's already upset. She figured out two litter boxes in the BR & packed bags mean she's staying home. She threw up all her food in front of Earl's chair early this morning! Heard her crying real loud @7a.m. Zoey jumped off the bed barking and went running to investigate. She didn't know what that strange sound was! A few minutes ago she jumped off my lap and went running to the door barking because the neighbor's cat was sniffing around my scooter out on the patio. She doesn't mind all the cats hanging around but she doesn't like it if they go near "her" scooter!!

Don't know where the week has gone! Didn't get my epidural on Tuesday. Doc said if I was tolerating the pain pretty well we should hold off. If he gave me a 3rd now Medicare won't pay for another for 6 months, so sounded like a good decision. Wed. is a blur. Thursday was big shopping trip to Winco and costco. We seem to have foregone Walmart for the summer because the one closest to us we HATE. Always jam packed, and traffic getting there is usually a nightmare, too, as well as parking. And there's now a Winco a block away from Costco in Everett, so it's easy. We start there, then Zoey and I ride the scooter over to Costco. We got stocked up for the weekend at Sun Cove. Found skinny bagels... 110 calories, but that's if you eat top and bottom. 5 gm of Fiber, too.

Zoey loves all the attention she gets when we go shopping. I am very impressed with how many parents are teaching their kids to ask me if it's okay before they approach the dog... even little tiny kids!

Keeping up with my daily walk. Back is doing better, knees so so.

Karla... can't believe you pushed that truck!!

Janet... weather here on this side of the mountains is supposed to be decent this weekend, unlike last year!! But we're not taking any chances. We're going where we know it will be warm and sunny! Adam & Alisha both will be spending part of the weekend with us, so that will be nice!

Candice.... Happy Canada Day!!

Linda.... chill. If they find dirt or dust, so be it!!! LOL

I gotta go!! Literally, and time to get ready for PT!!

Wishing you all WARM weather for the 4th July celebrations.

Wow, I'm with the rest of you, time has flown. Phyl, you make me tired just listening to you. But you thrive on activity, me I'm the hermit variety.

My Beast (old truck) is back to it's old self and running great. Went and got a load of gravel for around the pond. Just haven't had time to unload it. But I did get some new Koi, hopefully none of them die, or it they do they die while they are under warrente (sp).

I'm feeling really tight, been struggling with solids. Which is strange because I was perfect a few weeks ago. So I guess I'll watch it for a few days, then go in for an unfill.

Well best get started getting ready for work. I hope you all have a fabulous Saturday. Enjoy your holiday!

Hi Everybody,

100 degrees in the city today. The humidity is not too high, so it's not that bad, and there was a strong breeze today.

Almost finished finding the clothes I need for Mexico.

Still no word on a job yet.

No plans for the 4th. I think we will just stay home.DH has to work.

My friend that lost over 100 lbs with her lap band just taught me something. Sometimes I can't swallow anything. Now I know it's because I am wearing tight jeans. If I have buckle up, zipper pants on, I can't eat. So, I guess this means I am staying in my night gown from now on.

Denise, what is with your school not giving you an answer? I'd be going nuts by now!

Janet, don't worry about the gravel. I only put a few scoop fulls in my wheel barrel, I make sure that it is under 50 pounds, it will take forever to unload, but I know better (in this case) to be careful.

Missed the back of my arms with the sun screen yesterday and did I get a burn. Not blistered, but hurts like heck!

Work today and then tomorrow off. Need to swab out the kitchen. Have been working outside until 9pm then showering and crashing. I think every dish in the house is dirty!

Well best get to it!

It's been 10 long years! Here is my VSG weight loss surgiversary update..

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.

Some days I feel like an infiltrator... I'm participating in society as a "thin" person. They have no idea that I haven't always been one of them! 🤣

Thank you everyone for your well wishes! I totally forgot I wrote an update here... I'm one week post op today. I gained 15 lbs in water weight overnight because they had to give me tons of fluids to bring my BP up after surgery! I stayed one night in the hospital. Everything has been fine except I seem to have picked up a bug while I was there and I've been running a low grade fever, coughing, and a sore throat. So I've been hydrating well and sleeping a ton. So far the Covid tests are negative.
I haven't been able to advance my diet past purees. Everything I eat other than tofu makes me choke and feels like trying to swallow rocks. They warned me it would get worse before it gets better, so lets hope this is all normal. I have my follow up on Monday so we'll see. Living on shakes and soup again is not fun. I had enough of them the first time!! LOL
