I was banded in DEC 2007 lost about 30 lbs and sadly have now gained it back! ......... So I decided to join weight watchers to get myself back on track and add some structure back into my eating. Weighed in last Friday and sadly am at my pr-op weight I can t believe I'm about to post my weight........304 ...scary, but I feel I need to just to hold myself accountable.I'm going to try and post what i eat and the points again to hold myself accountable for my actions and Friday evenings I will leave updates after my meetings. I have been MIA on this website for sometime because I was embarrassed of my gain so I'm back hoping to get some inspiration, encouragement, and knowledge.

When was last your fill? How much is in your band?

Okay ladies I'm back. I've lost all the weight I'm going to lose without putting in maximum effort. When I got my first fill at 4 cc's I could get by on 12 points a day. Now I'm at 5.5 cc's and sadly I don't have much restriction at all. I can easily eat 35 points in a day with no problems.

I got my last fill a week ago and my surgeon for some crazy reason would like me to wait 3 months for my next one. So here I am. I have to get recommitted to WW or I'm not going to lose anymore.

I haven't been able to get back to them. My husband is retiring in January and we are working out our financial situation. I should be able to do it but I will be taking my 3 year old with me. That ought to be entertaining.

Hello

Im a new member of this site and im a WW junkie. I am having surgery in January. My last appt before my surgery is on the 3rd of Jan. I have a thyroid problem that aided in the gain of about 175 lbs in the last 5 years. I went on WW about 2 years ago, when i didnt know about my thyroid, and lost about 40 lbs. I then stopped losing weight and couldnt figure out why (duh). Then i gave up on WW and started eating my regular junk i was before WW.

I was excited to find this thread because i wasnt sure if i could do WW with the band. Now i know you can. I am hoping to keep my points lower than they are now at 51.

I weight 328 now and have a bunch to lose. Im really excited for my surgery day! I ate all my points today :( But i dont feel as hungry as i did yesterday.

Laters :)

Tina

So I'm considering WW. Is it true I shouldn't mention my band whatsoever at meeting or on their messageboards? LOL. I'm just curious. I don't think my band has failed me but I can say...I failed myself and I need a more structured plan, thats why I'm leaning toward WW. I just want to make sure if its worth me mentioning the band to people...and then getting hit with all these horrible comments.

I wouldn't mention it for one reason--someone mentioned in their newsletter that I get that "I lost xx amount of weight and I wanted to prove you can do it without having surgery." Good for her. Must be nice. We aren't all like you.

I've been banded for a little over a year. I have severe back problems. Had surgery. It didn't work. I had steroid shots for the pain. I gained 12 lbs. I can't seem to shed the excess weight. Do you think WW will work for me?

I am banded. How many points can I have on the new ww points plus program. I went to a meeting and they told me I could have 38 points - I didn't dare tell them I was banded. So do anyone know how many points I should use? Should I only use half of the points? Any feedback is appreciated!

Being banded is not a solution. My friend was banded in April as should I have been but they found a tumor and I had to have that removed, for her it was a bad experience post surgical and all up to now zero weight loss etc , she didnt follow the diet completely and wanted to know when her body could feel the restriction she still claims she cant and I am beginning to understand her because I am hungry now too but I have to keep saying the band is a tool and I have to deal with my hunger by NOT doing it the old way and eating but creating something new that will be effective.

I plan on using weight watchers , Heck I am thankful I will be eating solid foods and on 2 occasions she can empty me and that is Easter and Fourth of July , I plan on searching for some good recipes I can play with and exercising but this is a one meal at a time . Idont want to be on my meds , I want to be healthier, make good choices and share them with my family .

I WILL succeed.. And when I join a ww meeting , I dont have to tell them anything just that I want to loose weight and let my dietician do the rest and figure out the points .

I am banded for 2 years. I am stuck at 40 lbs and I have now been following the new WW program before the holidays and loved it. I am going to restart again tomorrow so I can keep track of what I am eating, because what I see here is that you still need a structured plan to keep track of calories and I really want to finish what I started. I cant afford to go right now, but I have the calculator and all of the new books. I also just bought some lean cusine lunches for work next week.

I just started back at WW. The only person I told about the band is the group leader. I wanted to know how to eat all the points AND have everything to be band friendly. I find I have to eat some hight point value foods (Cliff bars) early in the day but have allready lose 5.4 lbs in the one week I have been at WW. I think it has alot to do with the tracking of everything I put in my mouth which I had stopped and some weight crept back on.

I am doing the 5-day pouch test but I am tracking everything and still not very hungry. My motto this past week has been IF I BITE, I MUST WRITE!

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
