Who knows about your surgery?

Recommended Posts

I have such a big mouth, I've pretty much told everyone. Moreso because I'm really excited, I just can't contain myself. Of course, everyone has their opinion on whether or not they want to share, and they should do what is most comfortable to them :-)

Well said.

I told just about everyone too. People at work have been very supportive, and they ask questions so I get to educate them some. A couple ladies are even considering pursuing it now that they know someone that has been there.

Overall it's been a positive experience sharing my journey.

My DH, BFF and sister are the only family members I've told. I have told 3 people at work. One is trying to have the surgery as well, one had the surgery (good support) and the person who will have to cover for me at work. Everyone else at work I have just told them I intend to lose the extra person I have been dragging around on my back. That is all they need to know.

I've told... 5-6 people at one job, 3-4 people at my other job. My family knows (everyone I talk to and my mom might have told my aunts, etc..). My parent's neighbors know (I'm over all the time and sit out in the driveway with them). And then a couple family friends know.

I'm not really looking to keep it hidden, but I'm not going out and telling everyone and their brother, either.

I have a big mouth (to go along with the rest of me). :crying:

  • My husband knows.
  • My ex-husband (still a wonderful friend) knows. (Heck, he's been with me through 30 years of ups and downs, he might as well know about this one too!)
  • My fire chief knows (my weight has been affecting my motivation and performance as a volunteer EMT).
  • One of my board of director bosses knows (She expressed concern about me taking time off and traveling out-of-town to Denver for surgery. I pretty much told her so she wouldn't worry.)
  • My sister-in-law, the OR nurse, knows. We were together feeling like outcasts at a family wedding out of town and I chatted with her.
  • My brother-in-law and adult niece knows.
  • Now this is an odd one; my old boss from 15 years ago whom I just recently reconnected with on Facebook.< br />
  • Our fire district's financial advisor.
  • My doctor.
  • My dietician from my last semi-successful (but then regained) diet. She has vowed to help me on this path.
  • And... all the gals on a debate site that I frequent.

Yep, I have a big mouth.

Luckily I have received nothing but support from all the folks I've told.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
