Too Big in Texas!

Recommended Posts

I just wanted to drop in and say hello. I'm still in the "hunt" stage of the lap band. I have a consult with my 2nd doctor tomorrow and am feeling discouraged about the quality I'm seeing but I still hold out hope.

I'm tired of being fat and I'm willing to do what it takes to make a change. I have to have a sense of humor about this all because there are moments in my lap band search that just get crazy. I may have some weird questions to post to you guys since I trust your answers. I mean, you've been there!

Anyway, here's to becoming a big fat loser!

Welcome! Glad to have you, and ask away! How much weight are you wanting to lose?

Discouraged about what quality? The quality of your doc?

Anyhow, just wanted to say hi back and welcome to LBT!

Hi Spydr...is that "spider" or spy doctor? I'm in Texas, too....ask all the questions you want, someone will know the answer. What part of Texas? Glad to have you around, Cindy

I may have found a doc to use but there are so many hoops to jump through when using Medicare. IT makes it easy to give up. Thanks for the warm welcome and I'll see you guys around on the board!

Trust me we all had to "jump through hoops"....some more than others, but we all jumped!! BUT, the jumpin' is worth it.....so plow forward and jump, girl....you will not regret it.

And any questions you have are always welcome.......

I also wanted to chime in with a welcome! I think you're doing the right thing, it's important to research the procedure and find the right Dr for you.

I first heard of the Lap Band earlier this year and went to my 1st seminar in March... I filled out the paperwork and never heard a word from that Dr... I even tried to call a couple of times but did not get a response from the office staff. In May I decided to attend another seminar with a different Dr and have taken my time to complete the pre-op work he required. My employer has a weight loss surgery exclusion on our policy, so after much soul searching I have decided to have Band surgery in Oct and I'll be self pay.

Keep your spirits up. Remember, your health is most important -- do what you think is best for you. This is a great site, and many people will help with any question you have. Take care.

I'm also a TEXAN! I'm from Texarkana, TX. I would love to hear from some fellow Texans!!

Welcome to the boards...I am new here, myself and am in the "looking" phase. To me this sounds too good to pass up!

Hi Lu Ann, I sent you a PM... but, I don't mind telling everyone that I chose Dr Spivak!

I belive Spydr was looking for a Dr who would perform thru Medicare. I don't know of one in the Houston area, but I wish you luck in your search. I would recommend you also join a local band support group. There are several on Yahoo, I'm a member of the Houston Area Bandsters and there are quite a few knowledgeable people (more than I) on this subject. I couldn't hurt!

This (of 'course) would be in addition to the wonderful support LBT can offer from members worldwide.

I live in Oklahoma City but use Dr. Fred Maese in Dallas for fills. He refers to several doctors in the area and he mentioned last time I was there that some do Medicare patients. If you haven't found a doc, their office might be able to help you. Good luck!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
