I nuke my oatmeal for a minute and a half, then as I am taking it out ofthe microwave, I add a spoonfull of Peanut Butter in the middle and let it sit while I get the Syrup ready. That is ample time for it to soften up enough to mix it in. Let it cool a bit and enjoy!

Thanks you two!

I'm going to try more of the whole grains too. I found the barley recipe and I'm looking forward to trying it too.

I am curious as an oameal fanatic, how well you are able to tolerate eating oatmeal and what you do to doctor it up...

I usually eat one package of oatmeal (any flavor will do) and add a small spoonfull of creamy Peanut Butter and a small amount of sugar free maple Syrup to spice it up. (It tastes like an oatmeal cookie)

Bless you....seriously! lol

I have maple flavored Quakers Weight Control oatmeal. This morning I added a teaspoon of Peanut Butter, and it tasted just like an oatmeal/peanut butter cookie. I add a half of scoop of Protein powder my oatmeal after cooking to boost the Protein. I usually throw the remainder out, but today I saved it in the fridge for my snack tonight. It's really that good! :w00t:

I eat it all the time!

I never used to like it all that much before banding, but now it's like my best friend. It's kind of funny how much of a fondness you get to good foods that you know wont get stuck and give you trouble. Still iffy in the mornings, but if my mango/yogurt smoothie goes down, I make myself a small bowl, and it keeps me well into my noon classes.

I get the Weight Control one in maple brown sugar, my fill nurse recommended it.

I love the idea of Peanut Butter in the oatmeal. I will be trying that tomorrow am. I eat oatmeal almost every morning. I don't doctor it up much, just a bit of honey or splenda.

I'm pre-band (few weeks), but wanted to say thanks for the post. I eat reg. oatmeal every day, usually with a handful of frozen berries thrown in. I just bought Cream of Wheat because I was afraid the oatmeal would be too Gummy to go down. Good to know I'll be able to have it...now with new recipes!

I love to make the old fashioned rolled oats oatmeal. I eat them with some rasins cooked in taste like Cookies for breakfast.

I was just posting in one of the other threads that I am having trouble with Oatmeal. I love it but when I eat it I am starving an hour later. I have just been eating the instant oatmeal packs so I went and bought low sugar and had that this morning. There was a little difference but not much. How much difference is there in the weight control verses the low sugar? The low sugar is 120 cals, 6g of sugar and 3g of Protein. I am definetly going to try the Peanut Butter, that seems like it would taste great and add some more protein.

Not sure about the weight control but I can say for sure that the Quaker High Fiber is definitely more filling than the regular oatmeal. As a matter of fact I figured that out this week. I had been eating the High Fiber for two weeks and it was keeping me very satisfied until lunchtime. Yesterday I found one package of regular oatmeal in a box in my desk so I decided to use that one up--I was hungry two hours later.

Just read this and decided to make some for lunch. I haven't tried it since the band because I was told some people have problems. We make it with frozen or fresh berries, or with a few chopped up slices of spiced peaches.

Just posting an update since this thread is up again. I'm still eating oatmeal every morning and it's the ONLY food that I've changed/doctored up with special 'diet' (bad word around here) foods. I now add Benefiber and Soy Protein powder to it and I eat it with SF Maple Syrup ontop (I make it VERY thick). I shoot for at least 20g Protein at each of my three meals and this meets that and keeps me satisfied until lunch.

Oatmeal....yum!

I am tolerating it fine so far, I am just about a week away from my first fill though, so no idea how I will do after that, we will see. So far though, am really enjoying having it some mornings for my breakfast. Thinking of trying some with a half half mixture of pumpkin and oatmeal, just to see how I enjoy the flavor. This time of year, I really love pumpkin.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
