I am getting ready to have the band. I have had all my labs and stuff done. I am getting alittle worried about the procedure and outcome. I guess I hope the weight comes off faster than I have been told that it will. I can't wait since Christmas get togethers with my family and seeing my cousins and their weights I don't want to be that size when I am their age.

Hi there! I definitely want the weight to go faster than I know it will but just think, in the end it will be worth it. I had an "ah-ha" thought too for Christmas. My entire family is overweight.. parents/aunts/uncles/cousins/grandparents and this year I kept thinking to myself that this was definitely the right move for me. I cant fall into their footsteps.

It is SLOW. Truly. If you want/must have/need/crave fast, then get the RNY. I'm not being facetious or mean, either....I did think long and hard about RNY for that very reason. I lost my weight preop and 2 weeks post op, then have gained back a bit. Just now with my 3rd fill I am FINALLY starting to feel restriction. Some take longer than me to feel it, some much less, but my doc told me it may take up to 6 months post op before I really start losing.

I feel the loss with the band, however, is more long term.

You have to pick the surgery you think will work best for you!

I've been very positive about the band till today but by manager here at work told me in confidence she had it some years ago. She would never go though it again. She has gained all her weight back and has a very negative attitude about it. Now I'm having second thoughts.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
