Do you attend support groups?
I didnt go to my first support group until about 6 months out. I went the local support group and didnt find it very helpful and more than likely will never go back. My Drs office is an hour away and they hold a support group once a week. I went once and found it extremely helpful but the drive keeps me from going more often. Im thinking about going today because it was helpful in a different way than this board is. If my Drs group was local I would be there every week.

December 11 date :)
Hello! Come back! lol

Friday Weigh-Ins
Are you guys still here? Our group is so dead!

The FAILboat is sailing.....
You need to find a Dr asap! You're the same person youve always been before restriction.

First fill
My Dr told me that it takes about 3 weeks to truly feel the affects of a fill and I find that to be true for me. You really cant tell while on fluids or even soft foods that just run through your band since no solid food is staying. I usually have 5 or so days of swelling to deal with then just wait to judge each meal/food before making a decision.

Unbelievable!
agreed! Im not part of any clique but I dont feel like I dont fit in either. Overweight, lapband.. dont know how I wouldnt fit in.
-
Will it be different after my first fill?
My Dr told me that it usually takes 3-4 fills before feeling restriction. I felt light restriction at #3 and #4 but not good restriction until #5.

Help!! 7 months since surgery no weight loss
ME! I had surgery 12-8-08 and im down between 15-18lbs depending on the day. I found restriction about a month ago but still trying to find my sweet spot. I thought I had it but then I was too tight and had to have an unfill and now im eating more than I think I should? Ive had 5 fills and im at 8.2 in a 10cc band.
-
4lbs heavier day after surgery?
That all sounds normal. It takes a couple of days for your body to release all of the fluids they pumped you with. I wouldnt even be thinking about restriction because these next few weeks are for healing and things will probably change day to day.

How do you find your port?
My fills arent too bad. My last fill my Dr had to try twice before she found my port but she mentioned that she draws pictures to know where to poke and my chart didnt have one yet. From my memory if she pokes in the same place she gets it right on.
-
How do you find your port?
I cant really feel mine because Im so fluffy. lol I can feel in from the inside when I lay on my left side. My Dr told me that my port would be in the incision that was the longest and I think they told me where that incision would be, not sure on that part though. When I saw the incisions I knew about where the port was.

Filled more than I thought...hmm
Give it some more time because it sometimes takes me more than a week for the swelling to go down to really feel what the fill has done. Maybe you're getting close and you have to start paying attention to your chewing habits and making sure you get enough protein to keep you full between meals. Chewing really does make a big difference, thats why we have to make sure we chew alot. It takes me 2-3 weeks to really know how much each fill affects me.

why lap band ... as opposed to other surgery
The same for me. Im scared to death to have the sleeve or gastric with complications for the rest of my life. I knew that if the band gave me severe complications I could have it removed.

1st fill and gained weight !!!?????
I gained about 10lbs from surgery to restriction. Once I found restriction i lost those 10lbs and then some but it does happen.
