    8.2 fill no restriction

I felt hardly any restriction with 8.2 in my 9cc band. Im at 8.6 and feel restriction.

    Do you attend support groups?

I didnt go to my first support group until about 6 months out. I went the local support group and didnt find it very helpful and more than likely will never go back. My Drs office is an hour away and they hold a support group once a week. I went once and found it extremely helpful but the drive keeps me from going more often. Im thinking about going today because it was helpful in a different way than this board is. If my Drs group was local I would be there every week.

    The FAILboat is sailing.....

You need to find a Dr asap! You're the same person youve always been before restriction.

    First fill

My Dr told me that it takes about 3 weeks to truly feel the affects of a fill and I find that to be true for me. You really cant tell while on fluids or even soft foods that just run through your band since no solid food is staying. I usually have 5 or so days of swelling to deal with then just wait to judge each meal/food before making a decision.

    Unbelievable!

agreed! Im not part of any clique but I dont feel like I dont fit in either. Overweight, lapband.. dont know how I wouldnt fit in.
  9. My Dr told me that it usually takes 3-4 fills before feeling restriction. I felt light restriction at #3 and #4 but not good restriction until #5.
  10. ME! I had surgery 12-8-08 and im down between 15-18lbs depending on the day. I found restriction about a month ago but still trying to find my sweet spot. I thought I had it but then I was too tight and had to have an unfill and now im eating more than I think I should? Ive had 5 fills and im at 8.2 in a 10cc band.
  11. That all sounds normal. It takes a couple of days for your body to release all of the fluids they pumped you with. I wouldnt even be thinking about restriction because these next few weeks are for healing and things will probably change day to day.

How do you find your port?

My fills arent too bad. My last fill my Dr had to try twice before she found my port but she mentioned that she draws pictures to know where to poke and my chart didnt have one yet. From my memory if she pokes in the same place she gets it right on.

How do you find your port?

I cant really feel mine because Im so fluffy. lol I can feel in from the inside when I lay on my left side. My Dr told me that my port would be in the incision that was the longest and I think they told me where that incision would be, not sure on that part though. When I saw the incisions I knew about where the port was.
  14. Give it some more time because it sometimes takes me more than a week for the swelling to go down to really feel what the fill has done. Maybe you're getting close and you have to start paying attention to your chewing habits and making sure you get enough protein to keep you full between meals. Chewing really does make a big difference, thats why we have to make sure we chew alot. It takes me 2-3 weeks to really know how much each fill affects me.
  15. The same for me. Im scared to death to have the sleeve or gastric with complications for the rest of my life. I knew that if the band gave me severe complications I could have it removed.
  16. I gained about 10lbs from surgery to restriction. Once I found restriction i lost those 10lbs and then some but it does happen.
  17. I dont see why any Dr would need to charge a program fee. I had the classes, pre-op info and 1 year of after care for one price, my surgery price. I did pay for the psych eval out of pocket but it was only $50.
  18. Im a social drinker and have been adjusting to the changes. I would say I feel the effects ALOT sooner than I did before. I drink about a quarter of what I used to. Im not a big fan of beer, I normally have mixed drinks, but recently I had a beer completely forgetting about the band and I couldnt finish it. The carbonation was definitely noticeable so I stopped drinking it before I had any major problems.
  19. Mine is on the left. About 2 inches above my belly button and 2 inches to the right of my belly button. I sleep on my left side alot and I do feel it at night and have to adjust my body to get comfortable. I wonder if this is going to be an issue when Im not so fluffy anymore.
  20. I have the regular 9cc band. I recently had to have an unfill because I found my band feeling tighter and I was moving to slider foods and away from my solid protiens. .2 was removed originally but I still felt pain when I would drink Water so an additional .4cc was removed putting me at 8.2ccs. I feel a TON better and Im able to get all of my water in, I couldnt before because even water would hurt going down. At my unfill appointment my Dr. told me that she thought I would need to have some put back in later. I still have restriction but I just have to feel this out. Its amazing the difference .6cc made.
  21. Im posting so you can see my signature. Ive listed all of my fills. My Dr told me that on average it takes about 3-4 fills to notice but that depends on what kind of schedule your drs office uses. Ive seen people post that they only get .5cc per fill, my Dr gives larger fills depending on how you feel.

    Weight Watchers and the band

Ive seen people on the WW boards being super snarky for no reason. Truthfully, Ive seen way more snarkiness on those boards than getting any help from them so I stopped going. I did WW for 1.5 years before my band.

    OverFill ????

My Dr does overfill the band but that didnt sit well with me. Luckily I finally got restriction at 8.8 in my 9 band because even though they told me it wouldnt be a problem to overfill the band, just the increase of chance of complications from that isnt something I would have done.
  24. I think Ive finally reached my sweet spot. I have 8.8cc in my band. . I didnt get a fill at my last app because I lost 12lbs between that app and the one before. This is just different than every other fill and for the first time Im rarely hungry and I dont crave food like I used to.

    Do you use a straw?

I waited a couple of months before trying to use a straw and I do occasionally now. I have gotten into the habit of letting the air out of my mouth before swallowing. I burp enough without the added air from a straw but using a straw somehow makes me drink more fluids through the day so letting the air out before swallowings is my compromise.
