HUGE NSV... had to share...

Recommended Posts

Since I've hit an 8/10 size-wise, DH has been letting me shop a lot... my favorite place EVER is Ann Taylor. I couldn't wear their clothes before, and when I was a 12 or 14, the salespeople didn't give me the time of day. Well, they do now. A couple weeks ago, we did some major damage at one of the stores, and DH found a dress that he just HAD to have for me. A nice wool dress, fully lined, VERY fitted. They didn't have my size, so he found one at another store. I went there to pick it up and was shopping for a sweater to match another skirt I'd purchased earlier. A salesperson was making recommendations, and found something I liked. She looked at me, up and down and said, "You're a medium, right?" Well, YES, I am... and somebody from snooty Ann Taylor noticed! Praise be to God! I just had to share...

That's a great NSV for you. However, for me, if the salespeople had been snooty with me prior, I'd be shopping elsewhere!

I think it is a fabulous NSV and so great that you can shop at your favorite store. A medium is a very exciting accomplishment - so nice not to be "large" even though we are not at all defined by our size. Feels good anyway and enjoy!

That is a great NSV. I noticed everyone in all the stores are more helpful now . . . strange what a difference a few pounds makes.

I know about how it is weird how people are more helpful... It would be nice not to shop in the stores with the snootier salespeople, but unfortunately, when I was obese, it seemed like a very high majority of them refused to approach or acknowledge me... It is awful how people who are overweight are treated... that is a feeling I will NEVER forget...

I have to say I've been lucky enough to never be treated in a snooty manner by salespeople--lucky for them, too, as I would let them have it! *snicker* I never really understood the snootiness--especially in a profession where a lot of people often work on commission. HELLO, snooty skinny saleslady--that "big" woman in your store may very well be shopping for friends and/or relatives and "big" people's money spends just the same as "skinny" people's money! And if it's a store that CARRIES plus-sized clothing or items that are not dependent on size--such as perfumes, jewelry, etc.--it's triply stupid to be snooty toward overweight customers.

Not to mention just plain rude, of course.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
