Hello Everyone! I think we all could use a little bit of help.

I am completely out of control....I eat what I want. I drink what I want. I am not exercising and going alll down hill.....

I need help. I met w/ my Dr. In November and we decided I was too tight. Thus the problems I was having getting food past the band. Even healthy Proteins were getting stuck. I was miserable. I previously had 6cc's. He removed one quarter of a cc (.25cc) and I felt instant relief. I could eat and not get stuck..... Then the unhealthy eating began... From Thanksgiving on....to Christmas....and now I am ready to get it together and lose these last 20lbs.

I am currently 189lbs... I would love to lose 10lbs this month.... I am scheduled to see the good Doctor at the end of January.... I can not go there at the same weight or greater.....

I would love to lose another 10lbs by the end of February....... Can I do it? Will I do it? What can I do to motivate myself? What can we do to motivate each other. We are struggling here????

Tomorrow! I vow to write down everything I eat....Be it good or bad....I figure I must start some where!

We all my check in more. MAYBE checking in will give us added accountability.

Let's do this Richmond!!! We have to remember why we started this process.

I need positive feedback and support and I know you do too. Let's help each other........

HAPPY NEW YEAR ALL!!!!

Mo, i totally hear you. I have been out of control for over a year. I just can't seem to find my way back. My band is still good but I can eat anything as well.

We have to find something that motivates us. Right now I am not motinated to do anything and that's sad.

I hope that i can resume posting again if nothing at all for the support that we give each other. hopefully this year will be good for us all :-).

Reggie

Reggie, Mo, Riley and All,

Well I got back on the scale Tuesday and it wasn't pretty. Since my big unfill July 1st I have gained 35+ pounds. I decided to update the ticker and be honest. I am really disappointed in myself and want to get this back under control. It is very much a head problem with me - I eat for all the wrong reasons. I still believe in the band as a tool to help maintain. I am thinking of emailing Dr. Park and owning up to what has happened to see if she will consider doing another fill. I am so glad Nicole is organizing us for a walk/lunch in a few weeks. Not that I am happy to see other people struggling, but I feel better knowing I am not alone.

cyber hugs to all of you.

I just wanted to come by and say hello! In reading back I see that some of you were having some difficulty at the beginning of the year. I hope it's gotten easier! Are any of you on ObesityHelp dot com? I think it's a great place for support and the have a band forum as well.

I am doing good with my sleeve. I finally got to goal, then went to Mexico in December for full body plastic surgery. I love the results but it's a long healing process.

Mo, the Contra Costa group still meets for lunch. I get there every few months. It's moved to a new location. Come sometime!

Take care everyone,

Lee

Hello Everyone

I've been contemplating Lap Band Surgery for over a year now. I finally spoke to my doctor about it and was referred to Richmond Kaiser for the overview class. I'm very excited and terribly anxious about this surgery. Is this the right thing!? All I know is that I'm at my heaviest weight (285) and I feel I need I medical intervention at this point. I've yo-yo dieted most of my life and I just want to put the effort in and finally meet my goal, and feel good about it. I'm tired of working so hard and only being able to lose 30-50lbs and keep the weight off for 6 mos to year tops.

Anywho, I thought I would say hi. I'm looking for support and guidance on this process through Kaiser. How was your experience? Who are the most supportive doctors? Can you tell me more about the process through Kaiser and how long it is say from the overview class to surgery?

Thx for responding! Hope to meet you soon.

We have been missing for far too long!!! I was just wondering how everyone is doing. Please chime in!!!!

I am doing well. I need to get myself together though. I saw the good Dr. last month and had a fill. I now have 3cc's in my band. I have good restriction and horrible will power!!! HELP!!!! I look good/fine but still never made it to GOAL! My Dr said I'm doing good compared to his other mand patients. What the heck does that mean??? I have no idea how others are doing???????

We need to PLAN and STICK to a walk and or LUNCH...Cuz I know we can EAT!!!! We just need to talk!!!!

Hi Mo,

All is well with me. I have not lost but rather gained and I am back to 312lbs. The main problem is eating Protein for me, it gets stuck and morever gas gets the best of me. I have become a sugar junky, which i never was pre surgery. it goes down easy so i eat Cookies and all that is not good for me. In my head I know it ios not good and in all reality i think i am eating less calories that i should be taking in. I need to keep a food diary and get back to basics but can't find the motivation to do so. if i can get back to 270 i will be happy. I am soooo glad that you chimed in. I miss you all dearly.

Best regards,

Reggie

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.
