So in your research was the band still recommended? I don't think for me personally I could do any other surgery, at least not yet. My mom had one of the originals 30 years ago and had it reversed..but had a lot of issues. So though it has evolved it still scares me to death. I feel if I started malnurishing myself now it could be fatal later as it was for my mom :(

But on the other hand this weight needs to come off or it too will be detrimental as well.

I have not figured out the picture thing...I added one on some part of my page but don't know how to add it as a profile picture. I must say you ladies have me hooked...I love to check my email to see what new advice I can take away from it all. Such smart and super helpful people on here.

I think I should sleep better tonight...not as worried, I kinda have my mind made up about the lap-band® but love hearing the new info you all have on it. I just worry about everything in life :)

Good night all :smile2:

Cole, here is how I do my signiture and avatar (profile pic)....click on your user name (either from a post you did or on your name next to "welcome (user name)" at the top right hand side of your page.

After you click that it will take you to your profile; once on your profile in about the middle of the page along the left hand side there is a link that says "customize profile" click on that. It's kind of hard to see that customze profile link as its just a small little sentence.

That will link you to the profile page that gives you choices to add photo albums, edit your avatar (profile pic) and add a signiture line. Save the changes.

I hope that helps--its hard to write out these instructions. lol

Pam your a success~~79 pounds is more than half of what you wanted to lose or they wanted you to lose anyway.

If I get back under 200/199 I will be back in the lap band success zone. 180 and I am at 29BMI which was what the Doc told me I needed to hit to not be in the obese zone. 150 and I would be BMI 25 which is back to a normal range.

1. So goal one is under 200 by the end of summer. Than I will be at 50% lost.

2. Than my next goal is down to 180 by Thanksgiving???

3. Than I can decide than if I want to go down further....which I probably will but at 180 I would meet the docs goal for me.

4. I would be thrilled to be down to 150 a by next spring.

But focusing on my health and under 200 first and not thinking past that until the end of the summer when I write down new goals.

PAM:

YOu know if your have never loosened up and your lost 15.....than maybe I am normal. Thanks for pointing that out that actually makes me rethink things. Maybe I am doing better and am more normal than I think I am :-) Made me feel good to read that...............Thanks again.

DISPO:

I know that Holiday Inn!! :-) Thinking about you and your gonna be fine. It is over so quick you barely have time to think about it...............I didn't sleep much the night before either but that was fine since I basically slept for two days straight after. BEST OF LUCK

CHRISSY;

I love you, you make me laugh. So glad your as health and accident prone as me!! I don't feel as "special" now and I am ok with that!! ;-)

Chrissy, Stage 2 I mostly ate yogurt and Soup. Truthfully I really didn't have much of an appetitie so I had to try and remember to eat. Maybe go to Trader Joe's and get some soup that sounds good. I did make a batch of homemade potato soup and that tasted good. You probably don't have much of an appetitte so don't overbuy anything. Hope your doing well.

John, you are doing so great! I am with you on the exercise; I enjoy my walks but am not a gym person. keep working hard and enjoy the camping trip.

Sherri, good luck today! I am sure you will do great...you are probably up now and haven't slept much...lol

Morning All,

Tina ~ I do have restriction. Not "ALOT" but enough. I got a french fry stuck yesterday (chee Tamra and you wonder why your up today? LOL).

I was going to do liquids yesterday and today but I got to darn hungry, and stressed out. Unemployment is now trying to tell me they will NOT pay me while in school and I will have to drop my class to continue getting paid. What the hell? So I am fighting a battle, and I got so stressed I ate.

Today I am going to do Water water water, measure my food, and do all Proteins, and see if I am down tomorrow, and if so, continue that process.

Stress = eating and that is bad....why does life have to do that to us? Keep focused Tamara, you've come along way and you are stronger than any roadblocks that come your way!

Yeah Stacy! Keep up in touch as you go through the process! We have all been there and have all kinds of support here.

Hello Tuesday afternoon all!

Best wishes Sherri, you will do well! Water water water, before that time of no more...it will help tomorrow!

Yeah Cukiem...7/13! A new day for you...encouraged by how you are already doing the heart & mind working now! Can you make it to our support group this Sat? May be a drive, but can see if anyone else is coming from up there, and it will be well worth it! Cole, keep up your good research, you will know what is right for you!

Hiya Reggie! Please come on Sat...anyone else? John? We need you, many questions I am sure will abound...and we wanna see Mr. Baggy Clothes, hehe!

Pam & Tina, so glad you 2 will be there...even less of you both...so proud at how you both are NOT GIVING Up!

Ashley, any chance we can see the new Post Op you?

Ali & Chrissy rock that sleeve! Tamra, get that restriction on! Don't mean to miss anyone, but I do wish everyone a good & healthy week...reminding myself to truly hydrate with the summer season a startin! :smile2:

Hi Rosey

I would like to come this weekend, but not sure if I can. Can I get the info on where it will be and I will talk to my hubby and make sure he doesn't have anything planned?

Ashley,

Thanks for your comment on my blog! I am now really seriously considering getting the sleeve instead of the band and love to get opinions both ways. The Vitamin issue had me worried, but I feel better now.

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.

Some days I feel like an infiltrator... I'm participating in society as a "thin" person. They have no idea that I haven't always been one of them! 🤣

Thank you everyone for your well wishes! I totally forgot I wrote an update here... I'm one week post op today. I gained 15 lbs in water weight overnight because they had to give me tons of fluids to bring my BP up after surgery! I stayed one night in the hospital. Everything has been fine except I seem to have picked up a bug while I was there and I've been running a low grade fever, coughing, and a sore throat. So I've been hydrating well and sleeping a ton. So far the Covid tests are negative.
I haven't been able to advance my diet past purees. Everything I eat other than tofu makes me choke and feels like trying to swallow rocks. They warned me it would get worse before it gets better, so lets hope this is all normal. I have my follow up on Monday so we'll see. Living on shakes and soup again is not fun. I had enough of them the first time!! LOL
