Wine has more carbs than hard liquor, but onlyif you're doing straight shots or mixing with Water - juice, soda etc. all add more carbs to a mixed drink than wine has. For example, rum and (flat) diet coke has zero carbs, but is full of calories from the alcohol, which has to be burned off by your body before it can burn carbs, which is has to do before it can burn fat. SO.

My advice it to chose the one that you think you'll drink less of. I KNOW I can put away a crapload of Baja Bob margaritas (no carbs if you use Baja Bob's sugar-free mixer, www.bajabob.com), so I would pick the wine cause I doubt I'll even finish 2 glasses of that.

NOT that I would know. Jes?

Hey Nicole! I know how you feel.. I was SUPER ANXIOUS just getting a date on When my next appointment is gonna be.

I think the hard part is "the waiting"

thumbs up on your Gym Membership!!

Even though you don't wanna start losing weight right now.. I would do some excercise just to get you started.. like walking on the treadmill, or swimming. I think that way when you know how much your suppose to lose then you can really start that "workout".

Ok Riley..

So have the wine? no I won't be mixing any hard liquor.. if I do.. its definately gonna be with Diet pepsi/coke .

but yeah I've had this bottle of Moscato that's been chillin in my fridge, and I'VE BEEN DYING to pour me a glass...

I think I'll do that.. and then... later on tonight.. i'm gonna hit the gym...

I like going to 24 cuz I'll go either late at night or weee early morning.. Can't stand all the Jock strap meat heads in there during PEAK time. Plus they hog and sweat on EVERYTHING!

Yeah the wine then! It's calling you :-)

Dudette, at the 24 I belong to, even at 5 am I can't get a treadmill or an elliptical! Not only are they already on there, but they stay on for over an HOUR! I don't have time for htat - I want to quit and go back to Stan Bennet's, it's a sweaty weight-lifting gym but they have a women-only section and they open at 5 am. . . . . meatheads yeah, but no pick-up clowns. And cheaper . . . . .going to need to get back to the gym soon 'cause it's dark out w a y to late now! Since I have to be at work at 7:30, I have to be walk/jog in the dark and thats SCARY to back to the gym it's gonna be :-)

Riley, you crack me up!!

You all may not agree with me but I believe violence begets violence. If I hit (or kick) anybody I am prepared to get hit (or kicked) back. You have to give respect to get respect. You know the ol' saying "do unto others..."

so my day started out so good then turned to crap. went to se "capitolism, a love story" My husband can't seem to NOT get popcorn so he gets the large, then says "hold this" and goes to the bathroom. Hasn't he learned yet that I can't be trusted with the popcorn! I ATE POPCORN! So basically I can expect to be a couple pounds heavier in the morning. I told him that I'm not going to the movies with him anymore for a while and I truely mean that!

It gets worse.... So, last April my husband and I bought Jessica a 98 ford taurus - 1800.00. It lasted her bout 2 months. She didnt put air in the tire - it was real low and she had a blow out - went off the side of the road and cracked the frame. So I bought her a Geo Prism for 900.00 - she didn't put oil in it and froze the engine today. I feel the need to say that before the Taurus she had a 626 that she bought herself - and didn't put oil in it and froze the engine! At what point does it click in that you need to be responsible? Shes on her own - I'm not waisting anymore money on her - as it is, I pay Her rent & car insurance already (don't tell the hubby-he said she was on her own after the cadillac & taurus) - There is a reason I didn't have kids - I DON'T WANT THIS HEADACHE OR RESPONSIBILITY - UGH!!!!!!

So candra even in self defense to get someone to get off of you, you still think its ok. I guess next time ill put up with it.. I just hate having him in my face with his middle fingers imprenting on my head and auds clenching to me screaming and being pushed into a corner im sorry to me.. that isnt cool. But i understand ur theory.. I guess i was in the wrong ill tell him im sorry cause ive been tellin him im not the reason for auds but i guess i am:( oh well.

AND about that girl... you really need to let her go. My parents never paid anything for me. I paid for every car, everything. Ive never had my insurance paid for or any of that. And I am proud to say that. She will never learn if you dont cut her off eventually....

Nobody has the right to abuse someone else. I've learned that you treat others as you would want to be treated. It's not a matter of who's fault is who's but how 2 people grow from it. You can be together or not, just be respectful. OR... Shit or get off the toilet.

I had a good day, nice walk this morning, lunch & dinner was within regulation. I'm eyeing one of those sf fudge pops tho.

So does anyone have any exciting plans for the weekend? I guess I'm going to find somewhere to go walk in the morning and maybe a little gardening. that's experiencing some serious neglect.

Nicole - you have the right to defend yourself!!!! I'm not saying you don't! what I'm saying is violence is never the key - an eye for an eye leaves everybody blind! If he is pointing at you and you don't like it walk away. If you are afraid of him and think that he will hit you - striking first is not the key - Leaving is. You have a child in your arms and the last thing you need to do is provoke a physical fight. However, I was not there and may not fully understand the situation. What Jes said is 100% correct - respect is the key. You two have to learn to TALK to each other in such a way that is not antaganistic, argumentative or placing blame. To love somebody is not wanting to hurt them, physically, emotionally or verbally. Maybe you need to revisit what actually started the argument. What was said and it's not to place blame but to learn from it.

Analynn - you crack me up about the meatheads and their sweat! I'm not exercising anything like you are but we have some equipment in our garage that my son and husband use a lot. Since I started a little bit 2 weeks ago, I went out and there was sweat all over the back of my exercise bike (yuk!)- I told them that I thought in real gyms there were suppose to be towels and the etiquette (sp?) was you wiped your sweat off the stuff for the next person. They said we didn't have a sissy gym! LOL.

Jess - you sound like you are doing great. Are you going to go to the Kaiser Richmond support group on Wed? How about you Analynn? I was hoping to finally meet some of you in person.

Riley - you have so much great info and insights. I read on the other support group list you sent me about the 10K and how great it was. Your pics were great and you look terrific. Thanks for the support - I'm feeling a little more confident that this can really work. I gotta tell you all the things you read and they talk about going wrong has been scary and I've been stressin about it. Just really want to be sure I don't regret this later. I guess I am also worried about telling some people in my family. Someone on here mentioned the stigma that people have about this being "the easy way". And I think some people in my family are going to think it is too extreme - you know the old "just exert a little more will power" stuff. It's one of the reasons I get on this site every night because I really feel like people here are on my side.

Hey Jess - to answer your question about do'in any thing fun this weekend, we are going to my husband's aunt and uncle's 50th surprise wedding anniversary party. Wow 50 years - isn't that amazing and great? The invitation has their wedding picture and I swear they look about as old as my 16 year-old. So cute!

Wish me luck with the eating - also going to a birthday party on Sunday. I'm stressing a little about the eating thing cause I really don't want to blow it / go off.

Ok Nite Ladies!

Good morning peeps

I got a busy day today - hangin with Bridezilla - first her daughters soccer game then off the china town. strange place to be looking for wedding shoes in my opinion but whatever makes her happy. We will be taking the ferry in and WALKING - I will be wearing my shape ups! Oh, she had decided on a venue so the wedding is 7/18/2010, I got 10 months to drop 40lbs. I hope I can do it. sounds easy but my body is so slow! maybe this prius needs a tune up or premium gas... something.

Nicole - sorry if I upset you - it's my opinion and what the hell do I know! Tina is the one to listen to.

Loves to you Regina!

Pat, thanks for adding me - I love pictures  I will try to get there on Wednesday - don't see any reason why I can't - Jes, want to roll out?

Analynn - I really do what to try that dance class with you. As soon as my six weeks are up and I'm alloud to exercise and things like that can I come with you? Also, I belong to the 24 here in the V so if you ever want company....

Tina - so happy there is some positive outlook with the new job. Hope it all works out and you can finally stop stressing.

Jes, I think the walk we did was alot longer than the bridge but how much longer do you think? My butt is a little sore from it and those darn shoes.

so upset with myself for having popcorn - heather, how do you resist the temptations - That is my one true weekness. MOVIE POPCORN! Hi, my name is candra and I'm an addict.... Will you be my sponcer LOL. I honestly think I need to just remove myself from the temptation. If my husband can't respect me and not buy the popcorn then I just can't go with him! I will make him chose - me or the popcorn!

Pammie - does seeing the food specialist lady help you with these types of issues? I may need her number!

Nicollie - are you just so excited or what! I still can't believe I actually did it but so happy i did.

Oh, somebody was talking about the band failure rate.. My PCP said he has alot of people that have failed the band and that is because they don't follow thru - they go right back to eating the old way after they get the band and don't follow up with Richmond and their fills. They aren't realistic about how the band works and thinks it's just a cure all. That the band will do the work for them. I so don't want to let him down - he's so good to me and said that once I get to a BMI below 30 (170lbs) he will put the referral in for a breast reduction - woo hoo!! BUT... Said there is a 1 year waiting period. So, won't be in a cute bathingsuit this summer but NEXT SUMMER LOOK OUT

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.
