Sore Calves....anyone else?

Recommended Posts

I was banded the day before Thanksgiving and both of my calves are pretty sore...the right is worse than the left. I contacted my doctor yesterday morning and after answering multiple questions, he stated that he wasnt worried and that it was probably due to the compression bands that I wore around my calves before, during, and after my surgery. They massaged my calves.

Has anyone else experienced this?

I also want to say that although this is my first post, I have been reading the forums since my surgery was scheduled. I would just like to thank everyone for giving of themselves and posting such great advice. Every question or concern has been answered by reading the posts.

I had the same issues with my calves. I think it just had something to do with the compression stockings....

Hope you are feeling better!

I was banded on 11/11/08 and had no problems with cramps in my calves until I went back to work on 11/24/08. The pain in the calves would happen at night when I stretched my legs out. OUCH! Talk about sore, like I ran a marathon.

My doctor told me to drink more fluids, which I have and now I am not having the cramps in my calves.

I have no clue why, but every time I have surgery I get cramps in my calves for a couple of weeks afterwards. A surgery I had that I didn't use the compression socks I still experienced it. The doctor said that it could have been from when I was moved or how I was layed during surgery. Who knows. It could be an affect from the anestesia. Anyway, you are not alone, but it's nothing major, just irritating.

I had the same problem about 3 days after surgery. In fact, I was supposed to go back to work that day, but I was concerned that it might be a blood clot. I went to the hospital and it wasn't. They said though that a lot of time because of the swelling and gas and stuff that their can be pain in the extremeties first and especially to the lower extremeties...if you are still having pain, get it checked out just to be sure there are no blood clots...but you gotta go with your instinct!

I've been having this problem since my surgery on 10-22. My doctor did labwork and I was low on potassium. You may want to try and eat some smashed bananas or even prunes. They both have a good amount of potassium in them. Also g2 gatorade has potassium, but very few carbs. I have increased my fluids a bunch and ate a banana a day and a few prunes and now mine are doing much better. Don't forget to walk, walk, walk. Good luck.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
